Which tonneau cover?
Which tonneau cover?
I'm lookin at some soft tonneau covers for my truck... What is the best? I'm lookin at ones from autoanything for under $300. What is the best securing method: snaps, clips, or the velcro?
i have a tonneau masters brand. there is a pic in my gallery. sorry but when i took the pic it was still kinda dirty, but i have really enjoyed it. it has velcro. i have actually replaced the hook part of the velcro, but the only reason is because i had to open/close the cover about 2 or 3 times a day for about 6 months. used to have a s-10 that had snaps. hated it. velcro deffinately looks best IMO.
Not sure it works with your price range, but the Truxedo Low Pro QT works very well. Easy on, and off if necessary (My Harley wont fit with it installed).
However, avoid Lund Genesis Hinged. Poor design and ever worse customer service.

I had a access lorado tonneau cover and was very happy with it. My dad also has one on his F250 for a few years and has feld up well. It is a low profile style. Check out here http://www.truckalterations.com
You have to email them to get a price but they are the cheapest I found. They had it for $350 with free shipping.

i found a pace edwards jackrabbit bed cover for $125.00 in my local paper wanted adds. check the wanted adds you might find something at a good price. i know some salvageyards sometimes get some covers in good shape.

I just sold the Truxedo Truxport cover that I had on my 99 F-150 for around $125 shipped.
I did find a the Truxedor Lo Pro that I have on my 2007 FX4 for $335 shipped brand new from E-Bay. Not bad for a $459 cover.
I prefer the roll-up style covers as the supports and everything are all attached to the cover so it makes it a lot easier. Stay away from a cover with snaps.

I like that black/chrome bull bar. Where did you get it...how much? What kind of lights? and did the bull bar come with the light mounts?
Thanks
I got the bull bar off ebay. I think it was around $300 shipped but not positive. Also the lights are westin driving lights. They were $55. The bar has holes already in it to bolt the lights on. If ya have any more questions let me know.
I've had an Extang - Saber cover for the the past 2yrs and love it. No Snaps/No Velcro it has a continuous hook closure that hooks the aluminum rail. If memory serve me it was about 300. Here's a link to Extang's page:

I went with the Extang Full-Tilt snapless (~$350). It's an easy install, plus the entire cover is on a hinge with shocks (works like a fiberglass cover). If you need to haul anything, takes about 10 seconds to pop off each shock and lift the entire cover up and off the truck. If you ever need to, you can just roll up the cover to haul something, but taking it off is easier. Good luck in your selection.
As a retailer, I can't praise Extang enough. Their customer service is excellent and their defect rate is very low.
That said, I agree with others that it's best to stay away from snaps if you live in an area with temperature swings such as those here in New England. A roll-up will be a lot easier to work.
It may be beyond the budget you're working within but also take a look at the Extang Trifecta tri-fold. It's probably the best combination of features, function, and price on the market.
