Black grille shell for 07
Anyone want to trade my chrome grille shell for a black one? I want to have a black front end on my dark shadow gray f150. Ill black in the headlights soon as Im satisfied with removing all the chrome from the front end. Unless someone can give me tips on how to remove the chrome shell and spray it black. Thanks.

Vader,
I just swapped grill centers this weekend. There are about 10?? tabs on the back of the grill holding the center in.
When I bought my '05 XLT, I wanted the FX4 "H bar" grill, so bought a Dark Shadow Grey FX4 grill. That was an easy swap - just bolting a new grill on. But, I just traded my '05 for a blue XLT and wanted the "H" center, so I couldn't bolt the shadow grey grill on a blue truck, so did the swap.
It takes time (plan on an hour or so per center to be removed), and you'll nick up the tabs in the back a little, but I didn't break any at all.
You need to get a small screwdriver with a thin tip and 1/8" - 3/16" blade and gently pry the tab out one at a time.
I ended up pressing a wood construction shim through the front (between the surround and the center for a little help from the front side as I worked my way around.
Hope this helps. Be patient and careful - you'll get it done.
