It's the same as a sub install basically, route a cable to the battery and route a second cable to ground. Then, find a place for the ballast and relays, that's all there is to it.

a sub/amp install is a little more complicated then that, but i see your reasoning

Can you recommend some good "headlights" for my truck.

I have 2002 F150 Ext Cab. I really hate this stock headlights and willing to put in about $50 for new headlights. I just want something brighter and nice looking

$50 wont cut it for HIDs but you can get some silver stars which are the next best thing, you might be able to get some higher wattage after market bulbs off ebay from japan but i wouldn't recommend it. they will go out fairly quickly. stick with silver stars you cant go wrong

help, please

SInce this seems to be an informative thread on hid, I have a question...

I got EuroEffects HID 8000k conversion kit for $200, it is supposedly a decent kit. It better be for the price... (I actually got it used on ebay for 40, but they are 200 in stores)

I wireed everthing up, This kit has the two-buld hi/low. I like the hi bulb (which looks just like stock when lit...) because you can switch to those if a cop flashes you or something.

So here my question:

I installed the kit and they were working at first. I wired my low setting to power the bright HID 800k bulb, and the high setting to the stock-like bulb. after about 20 minutes, the passenger-side hid light went out when on low. I switched to high, and the stock-like light worked.

I put it back to stock, and when I turned on my lights... the passenger side low didnt come on, however, the passenger side bright did.

So, at the moment.... I switched the hid 8000k bulbs to be powered by the high setting. Now, for the moment, I am just leaving my lights on high and my lights work with the 8000k hid's. But, even when they are switched, now when I go to lows, the passenger side Stock-like bulb does not come on.

Do you have an idea what I am saying? Any ideas?
I just want some kind of a reply.
Even an "I dont know" will help, so I dont think people are ignoring this post..

THANK YOU GUYS!!!

Sounds to me like your passenger low beam fuse is blown, or there is just a loose connection between the connectors. I suffered from both problems when I was using a high wattage bulb. Replace the burned out fuse, check the harness for any shorts and jiggle the connectors. If that don't work you probably burned out and a bulb or a ballast.

YES! There is a passenger low-beam fuse?!?!
(05 f150)
so... 4 totall fuses for the headlights?

I am almost possitive that is what it is if there is a fuse specifically for low-passenger.

I know it is not a bulb or ballast because I replaced the hid kit with the stock bulb and the low beam still didnt work.

So, where is the low-beam fuse located? is it under the passenger side dash? or under the hood? If it is under the dash, do You know which # fuse it is?

Thank you SO much! Also, would autozone have a replacement?

I guess I know why my AM/FM radio doesn't work at all. I mounted the ballasts on the radiator support. LOL! Oops.

Mine sucks too, I've done everything I said to do, but I can't find any place other than the frame to mount my fog ballasts (That I like, that is...).
Everything helps, but just a little bit...
Maybe it has something to do with routing the power cable across the windsheild cowl...

Ehh...I'm blonde and don't want to spend the time to do it right.
