window tint from ebay??
window tint from ebay??
i am looking to get my windows tinted on my 02 f150 and it would be way cheaper to do it myself and order a window tint kit. has anyone used one of these kits for their f150 and have any thoughts on it? i am experienced with putting decals and stencils on, just want to know how the quality of this tint was. Here is the link to what im looking at... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...link:middle:us
i just dont want to waste my money if it turns purple in a year!! any comments! thanks

I would not buy it, if you have no idea how to put it on you are still pissing in the wind. Dont be cheap go pay someone and get a warranty with it, its a more up front but no wqorries in the long run
find a professional is the only way to go (I think)... I had my screw done for only $130.00... that's with high quality tint and warranty... those guys have the experience and it's easy for them... i know i'd mess it up for sure...

Tint is not as easy to install you one may think. It take lots of practice to get it just right. You have to have a dust free closed enviroment, the proper tools, and good/quality tint. Cheap tint will discolor and turn purple. You also can not use ammonia D on the tint. I didn't notice in the link what brand tint it is. You also have to know the state laws on what is legal tint and not legal. If you go too dark and get a ticket, it is a hassle to remove or cost as much or more for a pro to remove it and/or pay the ticket. Ask me how I know.
I order my tint (rolls) from the e-bay seller bargainsrrrus and they send excellent quality tint and always get my order correct. They are one of the only e-bay sellers to sell true Grade A Professional tint.
Tiniting yourself is not hard, just takes some patience and practice.

I've tinted all my own vehicles thanks to a friend teaching me how to do it and helping me on my first truck. Believe it or not, I've had the best experience with the tint from Walmart (of all places). It's thick, resists creasing when installing, resists scratching, doesn't fade out, etc... Other tints I've tried where sometimes too thin and once a wrinkle or crease easily formed from it being too thin, it's there for life, and the only way to fix it would be to start all over again with a new piece. Here's my work with Walmart tint:

Just don't expect your first shot to be perfect and be prepared for some frustration.
I would not buy a kit from ebay, especially if it's your first time. You're bound to make a mistake and need a new piece your first shot. I still find tinting windows to be the ultimate test in patience, lol. Every time I do it I say to myself never again, I'll pay someone to do it next time. But by the time I get a new vehicle, I've forgotten how much a hassle tint is to do and do not like to leave my vehicle somewhere with strangers all up in it so I always wind up doing it myself again. At least every time I do it, I've gained experience and learn a new trick of the trade to make it a lil easier, heh. I absolutely will not tint windows for other people, even if I'm being paid well (I've had a lot of people asking me to tint their windows from seeing me doing my own). It's that much of a headache to do, lol, but I have the f150 down to a science now.
Oh, and I'd also like to mention that this tint also does not discolor or turn purple like mentioned about the cheap tint above which I myself find it hard to believe considering Walmart sells it. Like I said, I've tried other brands from even automotive specialty stores and nothing was as easy to work with and look as good as the tint Walmart sells.

Down to a science huh??? Try doing an 04+, they have that drop in the door like the f-250. I wasted 2 rolls of 2.5% walmart tint before i said fudge it. I gotta get off my *** and take off the door panels. I would not buy the precut crap from ebay. DIY
