Grill help

Right now I have billet grill inserts for my bar style grill. They are ok but i want the real deal. How do I get a full billet grill? Do I have to cut it out and buy some sort of adapter? If so, can you send me some links. Thanks!

might be easier to purchase a totally different grill shell, then do a billet overlay. you could cut out everything except that thin plastic rim that runs all the way around the inside of your painted grill shell, then get the billet grill insert of your choice. cutting is more difficult and time consuming, but the look is MUCH beter (IMO).

You can purchase an insert that replaces the H-bar insert. There are clips that hold that in. The billet fits back in where the center section is. Search in the 04 section for hints on removing the center section. Not difficult, you just have to be careful and not break the tabs. Many make replacement section, including Carriage Works.

Grille has 2 parts:

1. Surround - paint-matched or chrome piece that runs along the outside of the grille

2. Insert - H-bar or billet or honeycomb portion depending on your truck

To have a good-looking grille, you want to completely replace the insert piece rather than just bolting something over the top of it. The insert is held to the surround by several clips which are kind of a pain, but it is possible to separate the 2 pieces if you take your time. You would then pop your new insert into your old surround & bolt the whole thing back into your truck.

So if i wanted to get this Roush Grill (http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=714), I would have to take the insert off and leave the surround on. And the new Grill just bolts on?

I would suggest since your truck looks pretty 4x4'd and you have the chrome bull bar, get a chrome H style grill. Or off ebay you can get a replacement billet grill and lose the factory H insert.

Look at your grill. It looks like an H in the center section.

I prefure the grill replacement not the inserts, you unbold the surround from the hood then remone grill from the surround install new billet grill with new hardware bolt the surround back to hood and your done no cutting required about 1 hours time , also don't forget the bumber insert for the complete look

Domestic,

The Roush grille will replace your existing grille.

You just unbolt and remove your existing grille from the hood of your truck.

Then you will need to separate your black surround from your existing grille.

(The Black surround is that approx. 2 inch paint-to-match trim piece that is around your existing grille now.) It is white in my pic below.
Removing the surround was the hardest part and took the longest time for me. The surround fastens to the grille frame with plastic clips that are flat one side and have a "hook" edge on the other. To remove the surround I actually took my grille inside the house and placed face down on the carpet so that I would not scratch my surround. I then took 2 screwdrivers-one I used to pry open the slot on my grille frame and the other screwdriver I used to push the clip back through the slot. It helps to be patient and take your time with this part or you could break off a clip. You will need to start with one clip and work your way around the grille.

Once you have the surround off, you will then "snap" it in place on your new Roush grille.

After that, it is as simple as bolting the Roush grille back on. The mounting bracket for the Roush grille should be exactly the same as your existing grille.

It took me about an hour to replace my honeycomb grille and I am no mechanic by any means. Although, My original grille is a different style than yours, I think the grille mounts for both are the same.

BTW, with the Roush grille you will have the option of using your Ford emblem or leaving it off. Roush provides a bracket if you choose to add the emblem.

Good luck if you decide to choose the Roush grille. I have had mine for about 8 months now & I am still lovin' it.
