Boltover vs. replacement (grill)

I'm looking to get a new grill for my '99 (honeycomb style). Which are you all preferring? I really don't want to see anything behind my (potential) "new" grill, so I'd assume I'd need to get one that is a replacement for the current? Or do bolt-overs serve their purpose and hide well? (lower $ I see)

Additionally, how hard are the replacements to put on?

I notice that on the lwr valance part there are 3 braces (?) of plastic... would a lwr grill cover these? bolt over them? cut them off?!? lol...

Obviously I've never done this, so thanks in advance for any help!

(btw, does anyone know where to find a hd grill for my model as well? contemplating that idea...)

34 looks and no responses ouch.. lol

let me re-write my ?s in hope someone can help. here ya go...

1. I'm am looking to put an aftermarket billet grill on my '99 (honeycomb style). I don't want the logo/old grill to show. Do the boltovers accomplish this or should I go full replacement?

2. How hard is a replacement to install (i.e. do I need to remove headlights, etc)?

3. I have fogs on the lower valance. There are like 3 plastic braces (?) where a lower grill would go. Is this possible and how does it install (i.e. over the braces, cut the braces off, etc)?

Thanks to whomever takes the time to respond

please....

thanks....

I like the bar style grill so I went with a bolt over.

From what you've said it sounds like a replacement might be the way to go.

My 05 grill was fairly easy to replace(1 piece). I took my time removing stock grill just in case.

Hope I can still be of some help to you.

1. In some chases bolt over look good, but like in direct sunlight it will probably show the old grill.

2. You will need to pull your whole front end apart just about, headlamps, shroud, headlight & grill frame, remove stick honeycomb grill ( clipped in real good by like a million clips lol ) and install the grill how its instructed to. I did not do the install on mine, I gave a shop $100 to do mine and it was well worth it I would say. It was custom mounted inh ( rivited to be specific )

3. nononononoooo dont cut the braces out! lol. if you bought a lower bumper grill that just bolts right into them 3 pieces.

thanks ws6 for the help. it was/is appreciated. like mentioned, i love the look of your old f.

i followed the link and bought the upper only replacement. it was after a long debate of wether to do a liscence plate removal (illegal) or relocation with a lower... i decided to just nix the idea (i don't think having the lower would look great with a plate over it).

and yeah.. i bought the headlights too. instead of the round corners i have the kinda eclipsed (right word?) look... like this.... ( |

^lol. anyways, all clear too. methinks i'll try installing them with help. I'm sure i'll have to take my brushguard off too oh well.

Thanks again for the help and the personal message. I appreciate it!
