Question about the FX2 grill

Just curious if anyone that has ordered one has received it ready to install with no painting required. The reason I ask is because I have seen some post stating it needs to be painted. But I have looked at several colors of the FX2 and the grill is always the same color. Why wouldn't it come already that color ready to install???

You have to have it painted. It comes primered. Some have had it professionaly painted and some have painted it themselves. The grill also comes with a new surround that is primered. Some have chose to paint it and use it because removing the old grill out of the old surround can be a PITA.

Ford ships their grilles with a factory e-coat. the surround has to be painted and the grille itself is optional. im not familiar with the fx2 grille but if it is textured u obviously don't paint it. if it is smooth i recommend that you paint it or the e-coat will break down after time and fade out. if you pull the right strings with the parts guy you can actually get the grille in the color of you truck, if you know the specific color, but normally they ship in e-coat.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words

I ordered it earlier in the week and it showed up today.
So unless you want metal grey you`ll have to paint it

I bought my FX2 in the Dark Shadow which matches the grill. And i noticed on other FX2's that they all come with Dark shadow grill's. Iv'e never pulled up to another FX2 until last week at a light and he had a black one with the grill painted like mine.
