I'm buying a new truck which has pretty dark tint on it. Let's just say that its darker than legal. My question is whether it will pass the state inspection like this...

Could I get away with something like showing up with the windows down? Or is this something they would deffinately check and make me remove?

 

we dont have inspection here in michigan but one thing i can suggest is bringing a razor with you to inspection. if they say anything about it, just rip the tint off right there. as long as its not real old and crappy, it should come off in 1-2 peices fairly quickly. if not, you just make an *** of yourself.

 

I had the same problem about two weeks ago. When I bought my truck, I went to the tint shop and had them match the factory tint on my front windows. The guy saiid it would not pass inspection, but with new vehicles in Texas, the first inspection is good for two years. I called the inspecton place before I went and they said they would test it for free before got it done, that way, I could fix anything if need be. I had a friend that told me to roll my windows down before I went, but I really dont think they would skip it. If it fails they usually give you 15 days to fix it with no additional charges. good luck

 

I did the same thing. My front two windows are too dark for texas's regulation. I just rolled mine down when I went in for inspection. This is in the beginning of the summer when it was just getting warm out side though, so it didnt look too obvious. I rolled in and they didnt say anything about the windows and im good to go, for a while anyway. I would try this before you bring out the razor blade. But thats the 80$ talking that I spent on tinting them...
