i took it to a paint shop and they said that the paint wouldnt last that long on the mirrors due to the material the mirrors are made of

thats a bunch of bulls*** I just think they didn't want to fool with the job, sure it takes some prep work, about a hour of sanding, do it right and it will last. Do a search and you will find many others who have done just as I have.

$200.00 and they can look like this.

Gators---

I sorta got the same response from a paintshop that I talked to about painting my black door handles....They were willing to do it, but would not guarantee the paint.

According to the shop, there is an oil residue in the plastic that may cause the paint to not adhere well. As a result, there is a lot of prep work as the plastic needs to be treated with a chemical to remove as much of the oil as possible.

They didn't give me a quote on my truck handles, but they had just done the same work to a Hummer the week before and his estimate was about $1,100

I said thanks and bye....I now have LT Handles on my truck.

I am not saying it can't be done as there are a number of guys on this board that have painted there mirrors, I just wanted to let Gators know the paintshop may not been shooting him a line to get rid of his work. If they are, then they must be related to the guys I talked with.
