fog lights

I have a 05 f150 without fog lights, and I want to put factory fog lights in it, does anyone know if it is very difficult to do by yourself and about how much it will cost?

Ok...so I realize that I have a '97 model and your asking about an '05 model but I did the same thing you wanted to do with the fog lights on my truck. I got mine from the dealer and they gave me the entire kit plus the fog lights. It turns out I didnt need the entire kit. I already had the opening for the lights and I just got the switch I needed to operate the fog lights from another wrecked truck with an off road package. I just swapped out the lights with the black covers that were in the holes for the fog lights and swapped out the switch and thats it. It was around 200$ for the kit.

yea check to make sure you have the wiring first. Sometimes they install it and tuck it away.

You might want to do a search in the Electrical forum. this one's been covered pretty well there.

Maybe someone that has done the swap will eventually chime in, but for sure you will need the bumper and a new light switch. I think all the wiring is there.

I also want to do this with my '06. Has anyone wired them with a new switch instead of splicing them into the parking lights. I looked in the electrical forum but could only find a site where a take-off bumper could be ordered.

I did this and bumper, fogs, and wiring ran me about $200. (I did not resell my old bumper to try to make up some of that $, btw, but you could)

My 05 XLT did *not* have the wiring, so that was all done by hand. Not too hard.

Removing the old bumper is a snap. Putting the new one on - well, it's best if you have a helper because it's hard to hold it in place and get the bolts down without scratching anything. Nothing too complicated, though.

Did you run them to your other lights or did you change out the switch for it and any advice you have on how to do it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've been researching this on my 2006 xlt. I found that the wiring IS in place from the headlight switch connector to the fuse panel in the pass side kick panel, relays and fuse in place as well. The switch would have to be changed to one with the 'pull for fogs' switch. Haven't been able to search under the hood yet due to the weather, but i'm hoping to find at least something near the bumper area to help my install. I did buy factory round fog lights on ebay and there is another set on there now from the same seller. Now i need to find a good deal on a bumper and switch. I had an '05 with the fog lights but that truck was totalled. (should of taken out the switch and harnesses!!) Here is the link for the fog lights on ebay:

Let me know if anyone has found a good deal on the bumper for the 06-07.

Dont forget that you will need the switch panel with the fog lamp 'pull switch out' enabled.
