Amber LED Mirror Signal
Amber LED Mirror Signal
I have searched through the forums near and far and have yet to find a thread with an answer.
I am wanting to change the Amber LED signals under the mirrors to a different color, maybe green/blue.
Anyone know if the LED's behind the amber lens are actual amber colored or just white? And if there are any aftermarket lenses that replace the amber?

I didn't even think about that. In that case I will probably go with Green or White. But still haven't had any luck with this. I have searched all sorts of websites for something like this as well and I cant seem to find anything. I may end up having to make the mod myself, that is if the LED's are white.
i think.. not sure.. but i think if you did white.. it would be fine, be its the same as like.. some cars of the mirrors wiht the white signals.. on the housing.. blue is for sure a no no.. but if the leds were white.. and it was jsut a lense.. try taking that lense out.. and finding some kind of clear plastic or similar thickness.. cut it.. then put some kind of color on it.. or just leave it white!.. or smoked even..
hope this helps

Slick truck, I'm about to order the Moto 951b in a 20 with the Nitto Terra Grappler 305/55R20. What is the width on your 18's? and backspacing?
I was told that the 20x10 with 4.79 backspacing would make the tires stick out a bit, but I dig the look of yours.
I also noticed you have a CB with a Wilson 2000, is the Wilson 2000 the antenna. I have a HalfBreed antenna for my CB that I have yet to put on, got it with a Ford mount, used to have a magnetic, and couldn't stand sitting it on top of the cab. Got any tips on wiring the CB, such as where did you go through the firewall at and what type of mount does it have?

Or not worth replacing with Blue with a chance of getting pulled over...because I've pretty much settled on white. Due to this from Oklahoma Statutes:
(b) Any motor vehicle may be equipped and when required under this act shall be equipped with lamps showing to the front and rear for the purpose of indicating an intention to turn either to the right or left. Such lamps showing to the front shall be located on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and when in use shall display a white or amber light, or any shade of color between white and amber, visible from a distance of not less than one hundred (100) feet to the front in normal sunlight, and the lamps showing to the rear shall be located at the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and when in use shall display a red or amber light, or any shade of color between red and amber, visible from a distance of not less than one hundred (100) feet to the rear in normal sunlight. When actuated such lamps shall indicate the intended direction of turning by flashing the lights showing to the front and rear on the side toward which the turn is made.
Go for it, now that you know you're legal.
Print that section off and put it in your glove box for those times when you cross the state line and those Texans try to roust an Okie.

hehe, I should.
FYI ALL: IN OKLAHOMA,
D. Blue lights are prohibited except as allowed in Sections 12-218, 12-218.1 and 12-229 of this title.
And those exceptions are for: Emergency Vehicles, Tow/Wreckers, Snow Removal Vehicles
Thanks for the heads up on the blue light issue.

hey thanks for the comment, and the width on mine a 9, but when you to a 20 or up, its 10.. and about the radio wiring and such, i went strait from the battery with the inline fuse hookup provided by cobra, and then my ground was a screw that was within inches of the battery, and was into the frame. i ran the wires around the engine, using zip ties, to make sure it didint come in contact wiht anyhting hot, or interfier with any moving parts. and then i ran it through the fire wall where the rubber gasket/plug is.. if you are unsure where this is, look it up, there are pics all over of where to find it, but a quick refrence is its maybe 10 inches about your brake/gas pedals, and with in arms length on the opposite side behind the engine. as far as mounthign the cb, its sitting lodged imbetween the 4x4 on the floor shifter, cup holder, ashtray cup holer thing, and the center console... its a perfect place for it. didnt need to make any mods or screw any holes or anythign, just set it in the free space. the speaker and wires running from the back, i run under neath the center console along with the speaker which is mounted under the dash. i had built custom box which was to be wrapped in black vinyl, that sat in the empty tray on the dash. it came out great, and had a hole to run the wires down the crease between the two dash peices. but i took it off because i liked it better in the old spot...
hope this helps, and sorry for jackin the thread

I didnt catch that the first readthrough. There isnt a statute against it such as there is for the blues. But just because it doesnt exist, doesnt mean it is ok. Asked my brother who is a state law enforcement agent, and he didnt know of any statutes against whites either, he said he wouldnt pull me over since they were not the primary signals. Guess I should ask the local PoPo's what they have to say about it.
Thanks for setting me straight on the reading of that law though.
