Naptime...
Naptime...
Any of you ever tried taking a nap during a long road trip and discovered how impossible it is to sleep with those damn seatbelts sticking out? Well I have first hand experienced it and my girlfriend didn't like them too much on the drive to Orlando and back up to Illinois.
First the tools you'll need:
- Dremel or some style of cutting device that will cut through 1/8" plastic without burning it. (I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel and it worked perfectly.)
- Socket head torx set... I can't remember what sizes I used but I believe it was a T50 for the driver's side belt and a T60 for the passenger side belt.
- Not a necessity but a pick will make the job easier.
Reach underneath the driver's side seat and disconnect the seat belt sensor (the pick comes in handy here). Slide the passenger seat forward and use the T50 to disconnect the driver's side belt from the seat. Pull the selt belt sensor wire through. Seperate the belt from the retainer and eyeball your cut... now make your cut approximately 1/2" lower than the seat. You'll need to dome shape the retainer for this to be effective. Reinstall the belt in the retainer. Reconnect the seat belt harness clip and reattach the retainer and belt assembly to the seat.
The process is about the same for the passenger side as well though the seat belt retainer is attached at the floorboard instead of the seat and there is no sensor. You'll be using the T60 for the passenger side belt. Once you're finished kick back and enjoy your nap!
I'll post a pics later tonight... I just got done installing 4 new speakers/ a 600watt amp/ and a monster wiring kit along with my lil' seat belt modification project; I want a shower!
