what are HID kits?
what is a hid kit. everybody is talking about them. all i know is that they are really expensive lights. i dont see why you cant plug in the lights to the headlight, instead of buying the kit? do you need a conversion kit or something, and whats the point of it? if my questions sound wierd its cause i dont know whats going on.
HID stands for high intensity discharge. In short, the lights use a capsule of gas instead of the normal filament in the bulb. The results are whiter light, longer life of the bulb, and more light output. I'm pretty sure you need the conversion kit because HID lights need a different source to both power them on and maintain the current, which normal bulbs don't need. As far as the installation, I havn't done one myself, but I'm sure someone on here has and they will chime in. Hope this helps.
Each individual light has a ballast (power source), its a lot more than just simply changing the bulbs. That is the main reason in the price difference. You can find some nice hid kits for your ford truck on ebay. Thats where I get a lot of my mods. Hope that helps!

I have a 2006 F150 XLT Supercab 4.6 for which I just bought a HID Kit. The question I have is: the factory harness has three wires (black, solid, striped), my kit has two. How do I know which wire to use? I know the black is the ground but which of the other two do I use? Any help would be appreciated!
