Truck Toolbox Questions

I am contemplating purchasing a toolbox for my 01 supercrew. I now know that i have to get a shorter height box because of the wheel base on the bed. I just plan to store extra clothes, sleeping bag, emergency kit in it.Anyone has ideas of the different options? Black or silver? plastic or stainless steel?

I also notice that the bed of the 01 supercrews are slightly tilted...Also, is there a link on how to install one via DIY?

My budget is in the low 200's.

I want to here what people think of different toolboxes as well. Is it better for the hang over the side vs completely inside only? Metal vs plastic?

UWS ( www.unitedweldingservices.com ) makes a toolbox just for the supercrew, black or shiny, they are very tough, i have one, very good quality, they are about 280-300 but are worth it

Personally, I'm a fan of metal (aluminum or stainless) due to durability AND looks. As for color, It depends on where you live and what color your truck is and what all trim you have (ie: in TX, black doesn't fair too well due to heat. If you have all chrome trim--bumpers, step rails, grillguard, etc..--than don't offset with a different color of box).

As for shape: Again, depends on you and your truck and on use. I use the toolbox daily, so a gull wing made my life easier, but if you just have it for the "just in case", the flush mount looks sharp. See the galleries to better form your opinion. Mine shows a few of my truck, of you're interested.

UWS makes VERY good boxes. also, the LOWES boxes are very good as well(theyre built by betterbilt) and they are very reasonable priced(i got my huge extra deep box for 280)

and id go with metal, plastic fades, warps(which can lead to leakage), can be cut through with a simple hand saw and pried open easily as wekk.

I'm looking at tool boxes also. I'm going with a Delta Pro. What lid types would you recommend and why?

Mid-lid Dual lid, Rear hinged dual lid, or a single lid?

rear hinged single lid. the dual lids are a pain in my opinion, you can only access them from outside of the bed(i get in my bed alot and get into my box), you cant put long stuff in them easily.
