Question ?? tinting head/tail lights ??

ok i have been lookin for thrads, online ifo, pics.. anbythign on this topic.. i have a black supercab.. stx 06 4x4.. i dont think that straight black light covers would look good on an all black truck.. so i wasthinking about tinting the head and tail lgihts.. so that u could see a hint of red or the origional light.. but not like.. so dark black that u cant even see anything but the black.. (i hope this isnt confusing)..

i dont kno wether or not standard glass tint would work in an outside inviroment (the kind u can get from liek autozone) or what.. but...

if anyone has any pics of theirs done or if u just want to put ur pics with any tail light cover up.. plz do.. thanks

and if u kno wether this is legal or not.. etc.. or any ideas.. thanks alot!

They sell stuff at AZ that you just spray over like paint. Some places sell pre cut "sheets" of it. My buddy did his mustang a awhile back. the good thing about the spray is you can fairly "easily" control how dark you go.

And it never hurts to check your local laws as far as legality. Also i might be different case between tails and heads...

I only saw that link my friend sent me to show me what he bought for his stang (and it was a mustang parts page). You might try ebay and see what you can dig up

VHT NightShades is the spray on stuff. Been thinking of trying some of that out.

I have the film tint on my 3rd brake light and it really doesn't hold up to well. Iv replaced it a few times...

Its not a big suprize it doesnt hold up well on the 3rd brake light because, the 3rd brake light gets much hotter then the tails do, based on how close the bulb is to the edge of the fixture, and also how little air space is inside the fixture compared to the tails.

Instead of tinting, you could always pay alot more and go with the Harley-Davidson F150 Head and Tail lights. Legal and OEM.

I was wondering about this too, I do want to smoke my brakelight so it doesn't show so much, I am kinda wondering about tinting/coating my altezzas shells.

Heres a photoshop of what they would look like

Hey everyone I have tinted my lights with automotive clear coat. What you do is go to a paint shop buy some clear coat and a touch up bottle of black, and when you mix the clear add ONE drop of black. Another decent method is using a Japanese smoke spray in a spray can. It comes out and dries a little like a rubber film. I had it for a year before i changed to the clear coat tint, it's more durable and looks quite a bit better.

DO NOT tint your headlights!!!! IT'S NOT SAFE AND DOSEN'T LOOK COOL, plus im fairly certain tinted headlights are not legal anywhere. Here in SoCal the cops haven't given me any grief over tint on my taillights, but go dark gradually. Remember they still need to be refelctive at night and people need to be able to see your parking lamps during the day. An ideal safe and good looking tint shows a hint of red in the daylight. If someone rearends you because your taillights are too dark it's your fault.
