Billet Grilles... help me out!

I just got an '04 Screw, which I love, but it needs a billet grille. What is the deal with the "overlay" grilles? Can you tell that the stock grill (I have a honeycomb style) is under there? I would really like to take the old one out and just put a new one in, is that possible? What about the bumper grille? Is that a complete hassle or should I get that also?

Any links to vendors or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

The replacement grill will look the best. Look on Ebay for an upper and lower grill replacement. The bumper grill is easy on the 04 because it bolts onto the existing side grills in there already, if im right.

You should go with the replacement grill if you want it to look best. With an overlay, you can still see the old grill behind it.

Another vote for replacement. Bolt-overs look tacky to me.

I just bought an o4 crew cab also, and it came with a billet overlay grille. It looked really crappy and I took it off right away. You could see the honeycomb behind it.

After looking at a lot of aftermarket grilles here on the forum, I ordered one of the Roush inserts as a replacement.

I am still looking for a source for a replacement grille surround, not sure if I want to keep my chrome surround or go with black, want to have both to compare. If anyone knows of a source for a replacement grille surround for the 04 body style, please let me know.

Thanks

Tom

Replacement Replacement Replacement, no overlays Replacement looks the best.

no there shouldn't be, theres only two types of stock grills, bar style, and honeycomb style, honeycomb looks best IMO and is a easy replace, bar not troo sure if that one comes out the surround.

i guess mines bar style then. its the same grille as the f150 on the top right of the webpage. it looks like you have to cut it out. where did you get your grill at and those lightning headlights?

I've got an '04 Lariat and I would like to upgrade the grille. I'd go with the replacement. Any of you guys know if the '07 grilles will bolt up to the '04 or did something change?
