Hydraulic tonneau covers...

I was curious if anyone knows if they make a tonneau cover that could be opened the same way an electric trunk would. I think it would be kind of cool to have a remote that would lift your tonneau cover and lower your tailgate at the same time and then close them as well. Is it possible? If so how much would a mod like this cost?

If I'm not mistaken, the Lincoln Blackwoods had a remote controlled tonneau cover. It would probably be pretty expensive.

There are a few ways to do it with special hinges and shocks, but i do not understand how they work as i have seen so few of them. At one time though i thought about replacing one of the air struts with a linear acutator of the same length, but its really expensive for its simplicity and if it fails there is no manual backup to still obtain access to the bed so your screwed with that route. try going to some street car shows, if you can find ricers in your area they might have a solution. they seem to have a lot of operating systems similar to those on the blackwood. or just buy all the components from ford for the blackwood and modify them to work in your truck.
