Aluminum truck box coating

This may sound like a dumb question to some of you, but I just bought an aluminum tread plate truck box from a local supplier. I know that it is alumnium and it will show it's age after time, but has anyone put any type of wax coating on theirs to slow down this process? I didn't buy the $600 stainless steel box, but rather the $275 aluminum box. Thanks in advance.

you can clear coat it and it will help to slow it down some or just polish it from time to time

i used some acid like they use at semi washes. my dads a diesel mechanic so i got it free but anyway i put it in a squirt bottle and sprayed it on then washed it off. it left it with a white haze but you could see all the junk run off. then i used some aluminum polish them you could clear it or just put a coat of wax on

Took a chance and bought some Zoop Seal Polish and used it on the truck box. Takes the oxidation completely off and leaves a nice shine!!! This is the stuff!! For any of you looking for the same results, this stuff works great!!!
