Billet Grille on Lariat

Hey all. I want to add a billet grille to my 04 Lariat. The only thing is, that I dont want to see the factory honey-comb grille behind the new one. Especially since mine is a grey color. If I had just the XLT with the black honeycomb, that would be different.

Does anyone make a REPLACEMENT grille that actually replaces the honeycomb and screws into the chrome shell I have?

I really like the Harley Grille, but 300 bucks is steep.. I emailed this company to see what they mean by replacement... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...71137310QQrdZ1

I have an '06 Lariat. I used the Carriage Works replacement grill. It replaces the honeycomb entirely and only requires 4 holes to be drilled. Pics on sig and in gallery.

I used a putco overlay on mine at first. Didn't like it because I could see the arizona beige honeycomb through it. I thought about just painting the honeycomb black, but I just picked up a Carriage Works replacement. Looks great and I like it a lot. No pics of the CW one yet, but lots of guys here have them. I recommend them.

Xterrable,
Did you buy that grille in the link you posted?

If so, how did it work out?

I'm in the same boat. That beige OE grille is HIDEOUS and needs to be removed, not just covered.

I've looked at carriageworks and now this one, too.

Let me know what you did...I need to fix my truck soon!

BTW, the grill you are looking at here is the one I tried out first. It replaces the honeycomb (you cut it out) but you will still have the gold surround and it requires a heck of a lot of cutting, sanding and fabwork. They are a little misleading when they say it installs in minutes I was quoted 1-2 hours from a body shop and when I returned it CPD retorted it shouldn't take a professional more than an hour...hmmm.

SnowmaNick,
That's one thing I've wondered too - does the beige surround still remain. I don't want ANY beige on my grill, only chrome or black. I'd like to match as much as possible.

I'll take a look at your pics in a bit and get a better idea of how your carriageworks looks. Your signature is not up to date, correct?

Sig is up to date regarding the grill. As for the CW, no you will not have any of the gold/biege surround left. As for the grill from Ebay that was linked to, yes you would still have the gold surround. An easy way to tell on the pics is to see if they have a black surround, those are using part of the stock grill insert still.
