Write up for Putco Chrome Door Handle Cover

When I was deciding to get these or not there was not alot of good info / pictures of them around here (except for a few members like Oxlander, trytokeepup, and Grooch). Even then I was wanting more info some here is a write up with lots of pics to maybe help someone else make their decision a bit easier.

What I got was the Pucto 4 door chrome handle covers with drivers side keypad. To my knowledge they still do not make them with the passenger side handle with a keyhole (why, I don't know).

I also got the chrome tailgate cover

They come with a Primer Adhesion Promoter and 3M tape to attach them

All you have to do is clean the handles well, then applied the adhesion promoter, then put off the protective backing on the 3M tape and attach the bucket first, then attach the handle .

here is a pic of the driver's side with keypad

Thanks for the info and the fine pictures GB ! I have been kicking around the idea of purchasing the same thing for my Lariat but was uncertain as to how they installed and whether they would hold up to different climate changes.

They look great on your truck ! Let us know how they hold up.

if you look at my gallery in the 3rd album you'll see mine. i only purchased the handles, not the buckets as well. i bought them from moss motors. they fit wonderfully and putting them on is a breeze. i'm going for a little bit of chrome on my truck, not too much. the harley grille goes on tomorrow.

Green06F150,

I ordered them for a local 4x4 truck shop. Got them the next day. Truck Stuff here in Houston is a really easy store to work with

All the places I look at ordering were about the same in price green06F150. I just order from Truck Stuff because it was here in town and if I had a problem with the covers I had someone to talk to about it face to face. I love the internet but nothing bets straight person to person business in my opinion

I did the same thing, only I bought them from summit. (hard to beat their prices). The handles only has a nice clean not overdone look that I was going for.

Well, let me give some insight to this one...

I installed them on my 2005 Screw in June 2005. They now, as I realized this past weekend, look like crap. They are all pitted from the salt this winter, and yes, they are the plastic ones. They actually look like someone shot a blast of sand at them, but they are pits like you'd see on real chrome. Just my luck, they;ll start to rust, too!

I installed the stainless steel panels on the lower rockers, too, and they started to pit really bad and rust. Thankfully, the vendor said they had problems with the supplier, who agreed to replace them at no charge with 304 stainless ones. I told them to wait as I will probably replace this truck in May with a now 2006 - maybe a Superduty. I know what a !@#$% it would be to take the old ones off... with vice-grips peeling them off like a sardine can lid - so rather not get into it. Sorry to say, but someone else will probably have to deal with it.
