KC or Piaa mounted upside down OK?
KC or Piaa mounted upside down OK?
I am mounting some KC lights behind the grille on my 98 and was wondering if there is a problem mounting them upside down. I found a good spot but would require such a mount.
any ideas? it doesn't seem like it would matter, but sometimes this stuff makes a difference.

I know for a fact that on the PIAA's you have to remove the glass and turn it around because there is a drain hole. You should always be able to read PIAA. It doesn't matter how you mount them, but the glass has to be in a certain position to drain. That's what was in my PIAA instructions. I'm not sure about the others though. Maybe someone who has them will chime in.
I ended up mounting them right side up so it didn't matter, but i do seem to recall that i read these lights should not be mounted upside down. don't know where, but i remember reading it, which is what prompted me to ask the question
my lights turned out to be very bright, though not a bright as i expected. they did not project a beam as far as i had hoped, but they are driving lights, not long range. i guess that's the advantage of having four lights vs. two. Of course , if i wasn't trying to light up such a large area, it wouldn't matter, but i am using them for true off road lighting/driving.

different lights are made different ways. As was told above, teh PIAA's have to read so the lens says "PIAA" and not upside-down PIAA, or else the water will go IN the drain hole, rather then OUT the drain hole, and you'll have a water/rust problem in there. With other lights, its no difference because they dont have the drain hole at all (and even the PIAA isn't so much a drain hole, but a slight break in the weatherproofing structure of the light).
Some lights will have the lenses cut so that it projects the light in a certain way. Flipping those over will cause the light to shine up instead of down onto the road. In those cases, you can usually just flip the lens.
