Decal removal

Hey all,
I want to remove the "FX4" factory decals from the rear bed panels on my '05. Can anyone suggest the easiest and cleanest way to go about doing this? Thanks.

I asked around before I removed my stickers and people said to use a blower dryer, but I didn't even need heat. I just used my fingernail to pry up one corner and just pulled the thing right off. It didn't leave any glue or anything behind. The day that I removed the stickers it was sunny out and maybe that is why I didn't need heat.

Give it a shot without heat and you'll probably be successful.

heating them up does help though....I restore Country Squire's for a hobby, and pulling off the old woodgrain can be a pain, but I use a heatlamp to make it easier.

I would keep some "goo gone" on hand just in case there is some glue left behind, and wax after you remove them

I used a blow dryer and then cleaned the area w/ a microfiber towel. Shouldnt need any buffing or waxing unless it's been on for awhile. I know on my old truck the decals were on for about 3 years so i just did the Meguiars 3 step process and cleaned it right up (took the fading out). Very easy to do though

Are you sure googone can be used on our paint without harmful effects?

i dont think goo gone would be a great idea on the paint either... i'd try some good quality cleaner wax... it may be a little harder to get all the residue off but its better than risking it.

Very Easy

Thanks for your help again, guys....I used a scraper (VERY CAREFULLY) to get a corner started and they just peeled right off....a little glue left over on the passenger side, but it came right off with a fingernail....waxed it up, new chrome decals look great.

I have took a lot of decals off, I like to clean up truck & have no adds or math problems ontruck. I used a heat gun (cold weather) and razor blade to start. When it was off i used cleaner called GOOF-OFF and did not hurt paint.I have used this method for about 5 F-150 s & 2 Rangers

3M adhesive remover will destroy the adhesive and is paint friendly. GooBGone never worked for me but it does not harm paint. 3M simply make the best products in the USA. Polish and wax after the decals are gone.
