Stainless Billet Grill?
Stainless Billet Grill?
I found a billet grill for my '05 Screw that I really like, but its Stainless Steel. I can't ever remember seeing a stainless one in person, all chrome.
Do any of yall have a stainless grill or have you seen one? If so, what do you think of them? Would I be better off just getting a chrome one?
here is a link to the grill:

Billet aluminum and stainless steel are different materials. Chrome is actually chrome plated so if you can get true stainless I'd go for it, especially at that price. It's hard to tell from the pictures whether the stainless has a mirror look or not so questions to the seller might be in order here.
rculpepper02, did you get the stainless steel grille, if you did how do you like it. I think it is the way to go, I searched the galleries and did not find anybody with that stye of grille..
it's on...
well, it took me about an hour and half, but i wasn't in any big hurry and i did it alone. you could probably do it in an hour or less, 30 minutes tops if you had help. the fit is nice on both pieces, all the mounting hardware is good quality, and the stainless finish is excellent. i did have to DRILL 4 small holes for the bottom piece for the mounting screws, which i didn't expect to have to do since the ad said you didn't have to. but it's in the plastic and the screws are finished like the grill and are very small and out of the way. here's a couple of tips to add to the directions (it won't kill you to read them at least once).
-grab a 3/32" drill bit, 9MM deep well socket, masking tape, wire cutters or a sharp blade.
-after you have the grill mounted and the hardware attached, don't tighten the nuts until you remove the masking tape if you decide to use it. i had to backtrack on a few to get all of the tape off.
-the mounting brackets can all be mounted horizontally so they don't show through from the front.
-don't overtighten the bottom screws, just make sure they're snug.
-after you pull off the protective tape and clean the grill, you may see some spotting or dullness. i put some mother's on a few of the bars and it looks like a mirror now (ran out of daylight and couldn't do the whole thing).
-the edges are sharp so be careful especially when cleaning it.
that's about it. you can't really tell from the add pic, but you can see the honeycomb black behind new grill but it's not too bad. i was thinking you might be able to use some spacers to help with that since the mounting studs are kinda long. i can't wait to see it in the sun... (i'll try and get some pics on here tomorrow)

FX4 Grille
I have an '05 FX4, and I went with the replacement stainless steel billet grille. It was a pain in the *** to saw the existing grill out, while leaving approx. 1/2" of the factory plastic as a border. But after my fears of butchering my pefectly good, brand new grille were eased, this new stainless is great. It looks like a completely different front end, especially with the projector headlights. Highly recommended!
