Is it practical to paint the chrome side mirror trim?

I have the chrome power mirror trim on my 2000 F150 XLT and would like to paint them black. Is it practical and is there any prep that needs to be done to assure the bonding of paint over the chrome?

Thanks,

Jeff

The chrome has to come off or atleast scuff them up good.

yes, I painted over all the chrome on my Mark VIII for a sportier look and it came out great...just takes a heavy primer first.

Or you could buy a set of the color-keyed ones from the stealership or a local salvage yard. Changing them takes all of 2 minutes each.

If you paint yours, scuff them up REAL good, spray some adhesion promoter on them and then spray the primer.
