bed rails on Ford plastic bed caps?

New to the site - I've been looking to add some Putco chrome bed rails to my 2005 F150 SCrew. I have a Truxedo lo-pro tonneau cover and the stake pockets are completely covered with the Ford plastic bed caps. Is there a good/easy way to attach the rails? I can't find any pictures with rails on here and everything I've read says taking the caps off will almost certainly ruin them. Help! Thanks!

yes, not to mention you will also have about 10 nice sized slit holes running all the way down your bed. The stake pockets should be covered with some square shaped pieces of gray plastic which can be popped out allowing the installation of the chrome bed rails without having to pop off the entire liner.

If you pop off the liners carefully, you can probably get them back on. I say this because I was told by a spray-on bedliner installer that they have taken them off before to spray underneath (and have reinstalled them apparently with very minimal issues). I have seen chrome bed rails installed before without having to take off that side liner.

Unless your Tonneau is interfering with this piece of plastic coming off, there shouldn't be an issue with the caps.

Don't know abpout the rails you mentioned but some rails are afixed in the stake pockets-like the Ford rails from the 80's & 90's. The stake pocket caps pop off and the mounting brackets with just drop into the stake pockets. I did not put rails on my 2005 like I did on my 94. For the 2005 I put in some of the slide up/down U-hooks for tie-downs.

Here is a pic of mine installed on the truck. Fairly easy to do, took me about 45 minutes. Per the instructions, I drilled a hole in the stake pocket caps and mounted them. They are very secure and have used them as tie downs on several occasions.

Uh I'm pretty sure the super crews don't have stake pockets. Mine doesn't and when I had the plastic rails off to switch to KR rails I didn't see any stake pockets either.

:o, whoops my bad. Guess I should have read the opening comment a little closer. As you can tell my rails are for a Scab application. Putting rails on a Screw would require drilling, which I wouldn't want to do.

Thanks for the info - I didn't think I was crazy but it didn't appear that there was a popout for any stake pockets. So I guess that leads to a whole new question - do they make rails then for the screw, and is the only way to install them to drill em like you said?
