Lightning Tail Light Lens

I picked up a set of these for my 2003 extended flareside, but when I pulled the factory lens there was only 2 bulbs: one for tail/brake/turn and one for reverse. The new lens has 2 holes for the tail/brake/turn. Do I have to get a double bulb plug or does only one bulb look ok with these lenses? I put lightning heads and corners on too, they look waaayyyy better than the regulars! Thanks for any help!

No one's seen this before? Guess I'll just tape over one hole and see how it looks, or get another socket and splice it into the existing wires.

You must not have gotten factory Lightning lenses. As far as I know, the OEM Lightning lenses have only two holes. Mine did.

Look for the name "Visteon" on the lenses. They made the factory Lightning tails. I have them also and the have only 2 lite sockets.

Nah, they're "OEM style" from Taiwan. I'll try plugging one of the holes and see how they look. Thanks for the replies!

Yeah, got 'em on ebay. Tried mounting 'em but they look wrong, the reverse bulb sticks out too far and you can see the crappy bulb socket. Guess I'll suck it up for a real set.

They are made for the 97-00 which have the reverse light in the middle, brake/running on the bottom and running light up top. The 01 and later have the reverse light up top and only one brake/running light.

Thanks smaug, just heard the same thing from a friend of mine. Now that I look at it, I like the lightning tails, but think a smoked lens would look better on my truck. It's bright red. Time to do some more internet hunting!

Lightning tail light lens

I have two 02 F150 step sides i bought new. I also have a 2000 Lightning I just bought with 9K miles, all have the red t' lights. I also have a set of aftermarket euro t ligthts I had on my 01 Lightning.
OK, they are all the same on the back and all interchange, same amount of lght sockets etc So perhaps Ford put both types on in the same years? or the extra plug hole was on 03-04 L' models?

I assure you all mine are the same. Any more input here?
Ken

I think the 1997-99 had a three bulb configuration on the flare side taillights.
