Question Headlight brightness: Projectors?

I've been looking at the projector headlights for a while now and have some questions for those on this forum that may have installed them already. (Yes, I already did a search on the posts and could not find the answers I am looking for.)

1. Brightness of the headlights: Some people like the brightness compared to stock, or even Silverstars, but some seem disappointed. However, only a few have mentioned this on their posts. Most love the look of them - which is great - but I'm most concerned about the effectiveness of the lighting output. Opinions?

2. Any particular brand of light seem to be better than others? I've looked at the Depo lights and the APC lights and both seem okay. I also like the Lightning version of the corner lights in combo with the new headlights.

3. Good vendors?

I appreciate the efforts of all in helping my quest for information. The posts and advice on this forum is absolutely fantastic.

Instead of projectors, have you checked out the Xenarc HID kit? I have them on my truck and I think it's one of the best investments I've made. They're a little pricey, but well worth it. You might want to try ebay for some.

The beam is much wider than the stock lights, but just a little brighter. You can replace the bulbs to get an even better effect. Ebay is the cheapest place but that dealer is an idiot. Any questions asked and he'll tell you to have it professionally installed even though its pretty much plug and play. Does anyone know why for some reason my low lights with my projectors are brighter than my highs? Is that how they're supposed to be?

I haven't yet looked at the Xenarc's but I will do that shortly. They look like they are pretty bright, along the lines of what I'm looking for. I thought that I read somewhere that they were being discontinued, which makes me a little curious as to why that may be. I'll check out e-bay and see what may be available. Thanks for the info.

You are correct, Sylvania has discontinued the Xenarc line. I'm not sure why, but I'd venture to guess because they just weren't selling enough of them. I don't know many people who are willing to pay $600+ for headlights. For the past few months, Sylvania was selling them for $399, but I believe they ran out of stock. I found mine on ebay for $350, but you may try a Google search as there are most likely some companies that still have some in stock. The Xenarcs are definitely bright, but I have yet to be "flashed" by oncoming traffic. I just think the HID's are cool period. I assure you that you won't be disappointed. I have some pics in my gallery if you'd like to see what they look like. I believe that RockPick also has some good pics in his gallery of the Xenarcs that were on his old KR.

I'll look into the Xenarcs later today (tomorrow?) and see about their availability, etc. They seem like a great light and probably more in line what I am looking for. Thanks for the info and opinions!

RP - did you ever clean that old truck of yours?? That license plate looks dirty! j/k! Your posts in the Detailing forum have been nothing but exceptional for those of us who are, comparatively, amateurs. Thanks again!
