i'm looking for a soft tonneau cover for my 2000 f-150 short bed. i need one that can only be opened with the tailgate down, so no snaps or velcro. i would like one that lifts. i dont want to spend more than $200-300. what are some good brands? where is a good place to buy? thanks alot

 

i have seen no replies to your question and dont really have your answer but i have an extang soft cover and love the quality. i got it through truckaddons which shipped really fast and supplies great customer service. i would say start there. i hope i helped.

I've had an Extang Saber and an Extang R/T, neither meet your requirements (can only open with tailgate down). You might do a search in this forum, as there have been MANY threads about tonneau covers. Then, you can ask those that had the covers you narrowed down to specific questions.

Why is your requirement that you can only open with tailgate down for a soft cover? If you are worried about theft, remember that a knife will take care of any soft cover, regardless of it's locking ability.

 

I have not seen a soft cover that prevents the tailgate from going down.

I got my Tonneau Cover at eBay, less then $180.00 dlls free shipping, and it works great for me, I actually belive that having the ability to open tailgate with the tonneau cover on is really good, but like pretty much everybody has said, I don't think there is a soft tonneau that can prevent the tailgate to open, but take a close look on eBay they sell all kinds of tonneau covers, and at different prices, just make sure you check their shipping cost before you bid with anybody.

 

i want to be able to open the tailgate with the cover on. i want to HAVE to open the tailgate to get the cover off. i dont want a cover that can come off without opening the tailgate.

 

Haven't ever heard of such soft Toneau Cover. But still, on eBay you can find a lot of differents types, maybe you can find yours there, I saw one tonneau yesterday on eBay that can be lifted, not rolled, but I am not sure if the tailgate has to be down to open the cover.
