Shift *****

I have a 2003 F150 with a 5 speed and i want to remove the stock shift **** and add a aftermarket ****. Does anyone know how to remove the stock shift know? Does it just screw off or do i have to yank it off...which wouldnt be too fun. Any comments would be appreciated.

Here is the deal you gotta do. Take a rag and wrap it around your shifter and put a pair of vise grips around it. Snug up the vise and with a hammer gently start beatin' the crap out of it until it lets go. They don't unscrew off, they are pressed on. By beating it I mean, position the vise grips right under the bottom of the shifter handle. Hope this works for you. If not grab 2nd gear really hard after the truck has sat in the sun all day.
