Brush/Grille Guard

I have a 97 F-150 4x4 that has the eddie bauer front bumper I guess. It has the bumper with the two bumps on front. From what I have gathered you have to get a special guard for them or else cut part of your bumper. Is this true? An anyone help me out? Any websites?

I had to cut slits into my lower valence for the brackets to hold my brush guard. It isnt really that noticeable.

Yea, I have a regular brush guard. I dont know what type of bumper the eddie bauer has, but I was just showing you have to cut slits in most of the bumpers (usually just the lower valence) to get the brackets on.

Do you have a plastic type lower valence?

I think I got them from ebay for 50bucks, but you can also get them through most truck magazines and websites. They attach with 3m tape, pretty solid stuff, but they are just for looks and not funtionl, just tape ons. I wanted to change the look of the hood without paying a grand for a new one, so I figured this was the best way to do it.

If you want a set they come in a matte black and ready to paint. I took it to my local maaco to paint it the color of my truck, cost about 75bucks. You could prob do it yourself but may not look as good. I think ther was this guy on Ebay that was selling them prepainted if you gave him your paint code, a little more expensive but probably worth it. Do a search on ebay, you'll find some.

Hey lawlowjoe
These brush Guards mount to the frame, so in order to get one that didnt interfere with your bumper you would need brackets that dipped under it, you probably could get them fabricated yourself or someone who know that kind of stuff. And then of course like you said you could cut slits into it. Thats what I would do, the brush guard would probably cover it up and if you did a good job cutting it, shouldnt look that bad. But sorry, never heard of the special brush guard for your truck. Can you post a pic of the front of your truck so we can see what we are dealing with.

Try[I] these (ebay)

Medium size Lund scoops (bidding now at 23bucks) (bid for this one)

From JCWhitney

(60bucks)

Medium size Eclipse scoop (80 bucks)

Mine are mediums, thats what is recomended for the 150, superduty's get large. And you could buy them and then have them painted later.
