Question car washing

Ok, I am taking my truck to a show in a few weeks and I would like to know what products should I use to get minor scratches out of the paint? Also, what works for cleaning the engine compartment? I have tried the local car wash pressure washers and that did not work. I don't need a show winner but I do want to make my truck look presentable.

I will throw in my .02 . .
Since you do not have time to order Zaino, Z5 for the scratches. I would use Meguiar's. Use Swirl remover, then the showcar glaze, and finish with 2-3 coats of the #26 yellow wax. California duster and the mist spray when you get to the show. For the engine I use simple green, any engine degreaser, or just a sponge and soap. Dry it really good, (I blow it out with my air comp.) and use back to black on the hoses and other plastic parts. Wax the under part of the hood also. I'm sure some will disagree or even have better advise. thanks

Wink

My uncle has been called by many "The Best Body Man in Georgia". He told me to use 3M's product to get a small scratch out. I put some on my finger, had my doubts, but tried it anyway. What a pleasant surprise. Still can't see the 18" scratch or any rubbing/swirl marks at all.

Try a foaming type tire cleaner in the engine compartment. It leaves it clean and shinny with minimal wipping

Thumbs up

Ok, off topic from what you're asking but it's important if you don't already do it.

Something most people leave out and I think it make s world of difference is the wheel wells. Get a good brush and clean them; don't try to get them super clean because you won't. Just get the loose stuff that you can. Then, I use the cheapest foaming tire dressing I can get. Usually the 2001 product (what ever it's called) for about $2 a can. You can use any of them but I like the cheap stuff for this. Spray the wheel wells after you've done most of the rinsing so you won't wash it out. Make sure you get it good and everywhere that someone may see from different angles. Oh, and it might make it easy to clean next time; not always.

Keep the hose handy so you can wash down what drips. If you don't you'll have water proof spots on the driveway that'll look bad when it rains

It's simple and easy and get's rid of the dirty looking backdrop for your wheels. I makes a ton of difference.

You can do other exposed "dirty" areas underneath too.

Ok, I've just given up my secret!
