Red face ARRG! Been in the body shop 3 weeks.

My wife had to drive my truck one day when I had to take hers to the mountains because it was snowing. Well, she is use to the 4WD Isuzu (my old truck) and she smacked a pole in a parking lot with my F-150. Ouch! She came in crying and I couldn't get too mad. (what a guy I am) Anyway I drove it like that for a couple of weeks until the body shop got everything ready to proceed. Finally dropped it off and called back in a week to get a progress report. "Ford sent us a F-250 bed skin" is what I got. So they were waiting for the correct part. Then later that week they said "the door panel didn't fit. So they were waiting for the overnight part. Friday they had the parts and were proceeding. The money for my replacement rental has run out now (I talked them into giving me a town car for $41 a day) and I am now sharing my old truck with my wife. This is getting bad. I got shut down by a V8 Cherokee on the way to work. Dang near humiliating. Can't get on the body shop boys too much or they might cop a 'tude. They are a reputable shop and I am sure they will do a good-great job. If I don't flame them and get them pi$$ed off.

Any way I needed to vent and knew you guys would understand. Hope to get it back by tuesday.

OK now I'm through. I feel much better.

G

I know how you feel. Mines been in the body cop going on three weeks now. The only difference is that it had 200 miles on it when I hit a 9 pt. Elk going 60. Luckily there was no frame damage, but the entire front clip has to be replaced, and the fenders also pushed the cab back on the frame. They were painting on Thursday last week, and then this week they are doing final assembly. Hopefully it will be ready by the end of the week also. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Fellas,
Sorry to hear about the trucks. I know how ya feel. A friend at work decided to boink into the back of my new Supercrew. I had to have the whole back panel and light replaced. Dealer took 3 weeks to do what they said was a 3-4 day job. First came the wrong panel. Then the lights didn't work. Now they can't see to get a simple 4x4 sticker. 5 weeks later and still no sticker. WOULDN"T BE SO BAD if they didn't continue to make up lies about it. Body shop did a good job, but service was WEAK to the max. Hang in there guys!

Thanks guys. Ford Outfitter, I can't believe your bed panel got mixed up too. So here I am, two days off and nothing but the old Isuzu to drive. Hmmm, I wonder if the old '83 RX7 would start. Lets see, expired plates, no insurance. Better not.

Angry

Called Monday and his secretary told me it could be ready mid-week.. Coincidentally, I have a friend that lives next door to the body shop. I was over at his house last night and looked over his fence. To my dismay there was my truck in the yard. Hood removed and plastic over the hole left by the removal of the rear right door. Those idiots had left it outside over night like that and it ended up sprinkling. So I called him back this afternoon (it wasn’t supposed to rain again until tonight) and he had an attitude at first and told me “nothing had changed since the last two times I had called”. Then I nailed him about leaving it out in the rain overnight and he backed down .He told me they were supposed to bring it in overnight and that he forgot about a few jobs ahead of mine. After 3 WEEKS mind you. I just hope that the paint and bodywork turn out right on. It seems like more and more people just don’t give a *****. And if you try and keep an eye on their workmanship they cop and attitude . I just hope he keeps his word now and brings it in at night. It really rained tonight. I guess I’ll call them Friday.

Unhappy

Called him back today (waited 3 days, what restraint!) and he said they will probably paint the outside today. I'll call him Monday. (fingers crossed). I'm beyond geeky now. Gave up on pi$$ed, mad and disgusted. I don't think I'll leave the garage again. Just kidding.

I want my baby back!!!

Red face

Well, the story gets worse...
I noticed when I got my truck home that there were a lot of light scratches on the hood. I had not noticed them in the sunlight when I picked it up. Only under the florescent garadge lights. So I took it back the next chance I got and they "worked" on it some When he said it was ready it was in the sunlight again. Itlooked better but when I got home you could see the scratches still. Today I went by this neghborhood light scratch and dent detail shop and the guy told me they mesed it up when they color sanded it. It needed to be color sanded again to be fixed right. Also I had the detail shop remove this Police Interceptor emblem off the tailgate and when they did you could see where they had masked off the interceptor before painting! I specifically asked the body shop dude if they were going to mask and he said "no we don't mask".
So I went back to the body shop he said that the hood wasn't warrenty because it was a costomer supplied part! He said that he would fix the color sand problem anyway but he made it sound like he was doing me a favor. About the tail gate he said he would have to let some higher up look at it and make the call weather or not to warrenty it. So I get to go back this after noon when the higher up shows up.

Aaaaaarrrg!!!

hey geeky666
sorry to hear about your truck. did the body shop replace your rear cab door or did they just do body work on it?
i have a friend with a similar situation as yours. he backed into a 4x4 post and damaged the rear door only. i was just wondering what his options are as far as getting it repaired.

They replaced the outer skin on the door and bed. Total inluding 500 deductable was 2600 not including the hood work. I didn't bring it back this week. I don't trust them. I know I'll bring it back soon but I just enjoyed having her back the whole weekend so much I didn't even want to think about it.
I am feeling better. Did the intake silencer mod today, we are still bonding. A Month can be a long time.
