Post Which Bug Shield for F150

I am about to buy a bug shield for my 2001 F150. The Lund Trident and EGR No Drill SuperGuard have caught my attention.

Do both require the use of the plastic stick on bumpers on your hood? Are there any bug shields that do not require the hood bumpers?

Any recommendations would be appreciated?

Yaroslow...I got the Lund Trident for the looks and it's also a bit thicker material. I don't have the plastic stick on bumpers, but if you get a shield that does, don't stick em to the truck, stick em to the back of the shield.

Good Luck

Thumbs up

I've got the BugFlector II. I like it. It fits great on the nose of these trucks. I did the no-drill on one on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and although a great idea, I drilled this on in the Expedition without hesitation; it's harmless and worth it.

I didn't use the little bumpers but it rubbed a little paint off at the ends, and now it's not rubbing there, but starting a little bit in the center. NOt a big deal bt I did dig up the bumpers and put 2 of them on today. (I was cleaning it and remembered I still had them)

I just installed the Lund Trident deflector on mine last Friday. No bumpers required, no drilling required and it looks great.

Exclamation

I have the Bugflector II on mine also. I didn't mind putting the four small screws in the hood to give it extra strength. I put the little rubber bumpers on the backside of the shield like Tray said, and haven't had any rubbing problems.

Another vote for the Lund Trident. No rubber bumpers, fits on nicely and looks great!

I also have the Bugflector II on my truck and I also drilled and bolted it on I think it more secure then if I would have used the plastic clips you pop in to hold it in place.

I would caution anyone thinking about putting the rubber bumpers on the shield instead of the hood. If you put them on the shield you run the risk of them rubbing through the paint. A buddy of mine had it happen to his F150. The shield vibrates as you drive. Over time the bumpers will wear through the clear coat and the paint.

When you put the bumpers on the hood they can be removed and the sticky residue cleaned off. Trust me, the sticky stuff on the back of the bumpers is no match for the paint.

I installed the ConceptII design series available through NAPA outlets, it used the existing screw holes underneath the hood lip, no drilling or self adhesive, and a clpe pieces of sticky foam that was applied only to the underneath of the deflector itself,so it's not visible, but secure and vibration proof

Just bought Bugdeflector II. Should of read this before I bought it. Does this deflector vibrate and is it a good idea to put those adhesive bumps on paint. How do you get them off must ruin paint. Also anyone have paint rubbing off with this deflectors
