Ford list a whole batch of Diamond Plate in their 2001 Accessories Catalog. Saw a Black XLT with Diamond Plate all over - looked real good - and sure should hold up better than the plastic . . .

Does anyone know of anyplace to order a set of diamond plate bed rails for a 2001? I hear there is only one company that makes them because instead of trying to take off the plastic rails, the new set fits directly over top of them. I forgot the company name, and I can't seem to find them locally. Ford needs to make those stock bed rails more durable, you can put a good sized scratch in them with just your fingernail!
