Cool Prerunner bar installed

I finally received my Prerunner bar yesterday from OffRoadWarehouse. They had it custom made from OffRoad Innovations then had it chromed from me. Here are a couple pics.

Thumbs up

Ron, That is AWESOME!!!! Do you have some ordering information or is it one of a kind? Let me know, I have been trying to get one from FabTech for a while without luck.

Cool

Call Offroadwarehouse at 800-341-7757 and ask for Keith. He had the bar made for me then sent it out to be chromed. He said most people just have them powdercoated. I think the bar was $140 or so then another $100 or so to chrome it. It takes about 3 weeks if you want it chromed. Installing it was a pain, drilling the bumper then trying to get up behind it to install. My hands and arms are still sore from that. :-)

If you have any other questions, please ask.

Ron

I got the 2 tabs. In W.Va. you're not allowed to have lights wired up above the headlights. Nice little fine.

rmagers,

That pre-runner bar looks nice! I'll have to add that one to my list.

How did you cap your frame off like that? Looks nice! Did your cut any of the frame off? What did you make them out of and how did you fasten them to the frame?

Thanks in advance!

I capped the frame with good ole aluminum flashing left over when i had my house sided. I cut the piece with tin snips bent it around the frame. You can make tabs to bend into the frame hole and spray everthing flat black. Nice and easy and didn't cost anything.

I am also interested in this type of bar. was it a hassel to install? Did you have to remove the bumper to get behind it for the hardware? does it have any effect o nthe airbag? Do you know of anyone else that makes this type? Looks great!!!!

the hardest part was getting up behind the bumper to tighten the bolts. I would have rather just taken the bumper off. The hardest part is working up around the fog lights. But needless to say after all the scrapes and bruises, I like it. I've only found one other prerunner that i liked and it was $550 not chromed.

Ron, It looks nice. Before i got my F150 I had a 4runner with the same type of set up. It was only one of a few around town. Smitty Built made it, and The 4xStore...now, Off and On Custom put it on for me. I love it. Have fun with yours. Oh yeah...another question....why do Chevy guys have something against Ford guys? They won't even spell Ford on their forum usually. I don't ever see anyone all scared about a Chevy on here really. Just wondering.

Ron: This looks great. I'm thinking of something similar for my Expedition. I have a couple of questions: 1. I see where it attaches through the holes in the top of the bumper, but how does it attach to the bottom? does it attach to the frame, or just to the bumper? 2. if it doesn't attach to the frame, can it be installed by taking the bumper off, bolting it on and then re-attaching the bumper. I've had my bumper off once, and it's pretty easy to do.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

There are 2 bolts going thru the top of the bumper and 2 going thru the front. On the bottom picture, look right close to the bend. They have a long nut welded to the bar. It would been easier to take the bumper off to do it but I was the only one home at the time to hold the bar. I used tow straps to wrap around the bar and hook them under the hood somewhere to center and level everthing.
