Unhappy Need more help on Expy Console install

Ok, I received my expy console from LWM the other day. It appears to be a console from a '97-'98 Expedtion. I tried to install it today without any luck. Did anybody receive any kind of adapter brackets with their console. Mine only came with the mounting brackets from the Expedtion and, well, they just don't work without a TON of frabrication. If yall did receive some kinda of adapter bracket, did LWM include then, or did yall have to buy them from LWM.

Also, my console came extremely filthy. I do realize that these were in storage, so I broke the console down and gave it a very thorough washing. When I finished, I still had what appeared to be white stains in the console where I think water had sat. I also had black marks on the console, possibly from shoes. There were several of these marks and stains in highly visable places. I tried everything to hide, or remove these. The only cleaner I could find was so strong that it actually took the texture off the console. Does anybody else know what I could use to take these marks and stains off? Did yalls console have these marks and stains or were they in pretty good shape? I'm pretty picky and I am just wondering how clean yalls was.

hey i can relate. my console looked like it had been in the bottom of a pond, i took it completely apart and ran water in the bathtub and gave it a good cleaning, it still has a few scratches and i'm pretty picky also. i ended up buying a new padded armrest and hinge. as for the brackets, they came with the console and they don't need modifing. you should have 2 metal brackets bolted to the bottom of the console and 2 metal brackets free. the 2 free brackets bolt in the same place as the original console, but the back 2 studs that come out of floor need to be cut off even with nuts that hold the rear bracket down. some one posted a "how to" on this and it is really pretty simple once you get into it.

CLick here for a how-to: http://128.242.213.81/f150board/Foru...ML/000509.html

Here is a picture of the plates that bolt to the floor These plates connect with the plates on the bottom of the console

Mine was fairly dirty but I got mine awhile ago so mine might have been in better condition. I think they are getting low on supply so you are getting whatever is left.

Thanks guys! I called LWM back today and talked to them for about 30 minutes and they claim that the 2 pieces that bolt to the floor, they don't carry. They told me I need to go to the Ford dealership and they should have them. It sounds like to me, yall received the brackets from LWM. Just to clarify myself, the brackets I speak of I believe to be the ones in first pic of BlueFlareSide's post. If yall did get these brackets from LWM, do yall know who I could talk to at LWM that would know what I am talking about? This way, maybe I could get the brackets from them and not have to pay to get some from a Ford dealer. Thanks again!

fsufan11,

Check out BlueFlareSide's webpage, he has a link at the bottom of his post. That page should have links to all the info you need.

Yes, I did receive the brackets from LWM. Call and talk to Darrin at 1-800-259-5842. I do not know what LWM stands for but I did get an e-mail from Darrin saying that supply was dwindling and he thanked me for sending so many people to him. I actually got his name from another member 97CustomXLT on this board.

Good luck.

Talking

Thanks BlueFlareSide! I talked to LWM again today and they are sending me what I need. I think we just had a miscommunication problem.

Good. As much business as they have gotten off this board, they should be pretty responsive.

Let me know if you have any questions on the install once you get all of the parts.
