Put them on my SuperDuty yesterday..
In the daytime they look just like a normal Ford blue oval.

On my truck I didn't even have to completely remove the grille, just the top 4 screws allowed the grill to swing out enough to get to the 2 nuts that hold the factory emblem on.
The part you'll spend the most time in is splicing into the wiring harness.

The emblem on the tailgate is just held on with a type of 2sided tape. I was just careful and pry'd it off. Getting to the wiring there is easier, (I used license plate light circuit).

Got one on the front of my Lightning. Had to take off the front grille completely to get the nuts of on my truck, but if you've got small hands, you might be able to reach where I couldn't.

Cool

Thanks, that answers my question. I'll be ordering mine soon to put on the front, I don't think that it will look as good on the tailgate.

I put mine on over thanksgiving... I nearly hit the bridge toll booth attendant this week because she was hanging out trying to get a better look at it! :-) Just a note, though... There is a connector between the resistor and the logo... make sure you goop some dielectric grease on there... mine corroded out last night and quit working... just turned out to be a bad connection at the plug. A shot of contact cleaner and a dab of dielectric grease and all is well again. :-)

Question Lighted Ford Emblem

Has anyone installed the Lighted Ford Emblem on the front grill? Does the factory emblem come off of the factory grill easily? And how does this lighted emblem look in the daytime, does it look just like the factory ford emblem. I like the idea of the lighted emblem, but hate to install something that might look "tacky". Thanks

My state dosn't like blue lights on the back of a vehicle...well, they don't like blue lights anywhere unless you're government, but they seem to be lax about the front.

jburd, On your 98' all you need to remove is the black plastic "cowl" like cover that is atop your grill and radiator. Careful prying those phony plastic screws. Put the logo in place and run the wires to the right headlight. Splice into the headlight wire and ground wire. You should be all set.
Got mine at www.partsforyourtruck.com
Good luck, Dennis

If you do mangle those plastic screws, they're available at the dealer... a bag of 10 was $4.00. I always mangle them in the process of removing them... I think I should be done mangling them for a while now that I got the logo and the lights mounted.

Question

Hey guys, have any of you installed the front emblem on a billet grill? Hope I'm able to get one mounted onto it!

Bobby Digital,
Here's a quote from an old post of mine regarding installation on a billet grille.

"I did the install today and I must say that it looks pretty sharp. To attach the logo I took some 1" wide plumbers strap and bent it into an "m" shape so that it actually clips onto the grille. Then I just put the threaded rods into the logo, put the nuts on and tightened them down. It was as easy as that."

You can't really attach the logo to a billet grille with just the materials supplied. You need a bracket of some kind to hold it into place; however, I have read where other guys on this forum have just stuck it on with the sticky backing that is on the logo itself. To me, that doesn't seem like it would last very long.

Hope this helps!!
