Post super white bulbs

I dont understand how do these super white bulbs give the look of the stock lense on a new mercades, you cannot see the bulbs through the cover, and therefore make no diffrence appearance wise, so whats the purpose of them?

That's a pretty funny qestion. What is the purpose of a light? Let me think......to better light up the road ahead of you, maybe?!?

Sorry, I was just being a little sarcastic there.

The super whites are not for appearance they help in function by lighting up the road better. If you want appearance you would go with something like this.

To get a true HID lighting system you need to spend close to $1000.

I have a pair from the online store and they are significantly brighter than the stock lights. For $50 they are worth it.

Cool

There was a discussion in the Lightning forum not too long ago concerning these lights. Here is the link https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/004801.html

Also, try this link. the pictures are gone but there is good information here. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000615.html

The truck was a concept vehicle called the SCUBA.

As BlueFlareside already said, there are two different types of headlights; "super" white head lights and HID. HID (High Intensity Discharge) is a completely different kind of lighting, it requires new wiring and everything - plus it costs about a grand to install. The other kind of lighting is much cheaper because all you do is replace the blubs with new blubs. These bulbs have a film coating on the bulb that absorbs yellow wavelengths of light. This gives the light coming out a blue tint to it. But be careful, these "super" white head lights are illegal in most (if not all) states! If you have them you run the risk of getting a ticket. Whereas HID is perfectly legal.

Oh, and don't think the cops don't know the difference between the two systems. Most police depts. keep a list of which cars come OEM with HID, therefore they know not to bother pulling them over. But F150s don't come with HID, so if you add HID you may get pulled over, but once the cop realizes you've got HID he won't give you a ticket. But if you have "super" white you may very well get a ticket (rightfully so in my mind, I don't like the "super" white bulbs).

I dont start arguements about these bulbs. But I will through in my .02 .. If they are Real Superwhite bulbs they are DOT approved and meet the white requirement and you wont get a ticket. here are my bulbs in my truck. Xenon/Plasma Superwhites. 80/100 watt 9007s for the lights and 80 Watt 9006's for the fog lights. Bright as *****

Well, if people think that my "Super" Whites are to bright than I'll show em what bright is all about. People just need to stop bitchin. Trucks are supposed to have bright lights. Hell, I like it and think it's funny when I get behind a car and they have to flip their mirror cause they think my lights are to bright. It's called low beam people, if ya don't like it get a bigger car. My light covers are off at night just incase....

Can some one help me? I ordered 9006 bulbs for my fog lamps (like the guy above) and they don't fit. I have a 1999 F150 and the lamp lense looks different so I guess the bulb is different. What size do I need? Can I get the super white bulbs in the size I need?

Steve

Steveo, thanks for the mention, I do have a 9006X which will work in the 99-01 trucks with factory fogs, It is a light that I modify to work with these new trucks since the 9145 is not available. My email is either RLEM1997@aol.com or you may use the one in my signature.

Got my "Super Whites" from Roger, really make a big difference driving mountain roads at night. Roger answered several questions for me and provided great service, even offered to take them back when I wasn't sure if I wanted to install them. Don't know of any other suppler that would have done that with an electrical product. From now on, I will go to Roger first.

Roger is a great help. Did you install the foglamp bulbs that he modifies? Was it easy?
