Should I buy this Hood
I am thinking buying a ram air hood for my 2000 F-150, seeing as how the hail hated my truck. So I looked at one that I liked But i am not to sure about it. It is from a company known as Cervini's, or something to that degree, if you search yahoo "F-150 Ram Air Hoods" it will bring it up. They only offer a 90 day warranty for a product that is going to cost 500$. If anyone knows anything about this company or can offer me any suggestions to some others. I would apperciate it. I just want to know if this company is a good one to deal with or if they make crappy stuff.

Cervinis makes the best hoods on the market, IMO. My bodyshop guys couldn't say enough. Perfect fit and finish.
Absolutely a beautifully made hood! (and I'm really picky...)
Good Luck!

Yep, they are really good. Keystone restyling also has a functional Ram Air hood, but it has a totally different design. Is the Cervini's functional model available yet. Cervini's has been making really good hoods and ground effects for the mustangs for years. We were planning on putting their stalker kit on my wife's Cobra until she decided she wanted a SUV. I really tried to get her to keep the Cobra so I could raise He11 in it occasionally, but didn't want to give up my truck for it. Well, maybe soon I will be putting a lot more kick into my truck in the performance arena.
I just got mine today. They were back ordered 3-4 weeks but it arrived just when they said it would. Except for the "nostril" cut outs being a bit rough, it looks like it's ready to bolt on and paint. It is very sturdy, nothing like the paper-thin ones you see drag racers using to reduce weight. The shipping is a bit steep - $113 from New Jersey to Washington. When I ordered it they said the functional ram-air kit wouldn't be available for 3 months. I read another post where someone was told 6 months back in January, so I'm not holding my breath.
I decided on the Cervini because I couldn't find anyone with one of their products who had anything bad to say about them. Plus their #130 is somewhat unique - not a Cobra rip-off, not too gaudy, and for such a small change it sure makes it look like a whole different truck.
I'll post some before & after pictures when it's all done.

Thanks. I just now called to make sure they know it is in high demand. Here's what he said: "It's done, we're testing it now. It should be available in another month or two."

Hey Rich,
I just got back from getting an estimate on mine and they quoted me 6 hours finish time. That's over and above the paint time of 4.5 hours to paint it. Does this sound right? I want to make sure they aren't trying to gouge me or tell me afterwards that it really took 10 hours. TIA

Don't get me wrong the hood on that red SVT is VERY VERY Sharp, but it is fiberglass right, well as the body shop that I get my stuff painted at say "no matter what glass will crack and steele is better" even reinforced hinges will crack, my buddy had a Hard Wood and it cracked.......well I just would be careful with a Fiber Hood .........
The Cervini's hood is awesome in quality, you won't find better, & they are cheaper than a lot of other hoods. I don't have one yet, when I'm ready it's Cervini's or nothing. I've seen them up close, you won't be disapointed. Lloyd

Did they actually see the hood, or was that a ballpark estimate? Most bodyshops will charge extra for fiberglass because the quality of most of them is crap. My bodyshop couldn't have spent more than an hour on the Cervini. That's why I bought it...
As far as the gouging... You might want to get a second estimate... I had mine painted inside and out show-quality(extra picky) for just a couple of hundred.

I'd be real suprised if a hood like this cracks...

That 6 hour estimate was after seeing the hood. 4 for the top, 1.5 for the bottom, 0.5 for the hardware and install. The estimator guy even brought out the fiberglass guy to take a look. The place I went to is pretty high-end, I wouldn't have expected them to try and screw me over. I have no experience with FB (yet), but it looks pretty well finished to me. The top is smooth and shiny with two minor scratches, the bottom has a few spots to fix, and the holes need some work. The edge around the front and sides is unfinished, but I guessed it was left that way so it could be matched to the truck.
I think I'll go in search of some more estimates.
The 4.5 hours to paint comes from having silver paint. It's harder to color match than most colors so they end up painting he hood as close as possible, then blending the paint on the fenders. Apparently silver is so sensitive that you can alter the shade by simply changing he air pressure (I heard this same thing when I got my silver T/A painted years ago).
And if that bill wasn't high enough, there is another $900 to fix the scratches and dents on the fender & bumper cover caused when an uninsured / unlicensed / non-english-speaking idiot decided to change lanes into me without signaling or bothering to look. Lucky for him it was on a busy street and not a deserted highway.

Rich again Sharp Hood ...........I bought a Steel Hood do to the scare of my body shop guys and they where selling it so go figure you Have a Great Looking truck ........maybe I'll switch ........is the hood functional? Like does it come with the Ram Air Kit or not? and how do you post your pics on here I would like to post mine also thanks Chris
Have the guys at your body shop ever heard of a little known car called the Corvette?
90% fiberglass. I'll bet there are a million vette owners (myself included) that will tell you there are no cracks in their hoods, doors, or anywhere else. Now the urethane bumpers on the C3's, that's another story...
I think it's all in the quality and prep. The Cervini's is quite heavy and thick, not at all like the hoods you would find drag racers using to shed a few pounds. They are working on a functional ram air kit now.

Rich (TampaBayLightning),
Could we get a profile of your hood. I'm looking for a ram air hood that has a few bubbly looking snorkles that extrude the flush of the hood. I've fallen in love with the late model hoods on the Firebirds. I wish someone could come out with something like that for a pickup.

red bull,
you would probably like the hood on the Rooster truck. Don't know the maker but Roger took some pics of it at a SEMA show.
here's a side view:
Mark,
my truck is silver and yes the painter had to paint into the fenders. match is perfect. only charged me $180. this guy has his own small shop out in the boonies and did a great job and I plan on going back for him to paint other stuff. big town shops tend to overcharge b/c they have to pay employees. the self employed are usually less and the honest ones are even better. he had my truck for a week (since i was out of town) and he had to let the hood cure for a few days and painted it the morning on the day I came to pick it up.
