Need Help In Choosing Soft Tonneau Cover
I am looking to purchase a soft tonneau cover for my 2001 F150 Supercrew. Any recommendations from those with experience. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bow

The snap-on style sold at Meijer held up well enough on my '97 for someone to pay $90 for it when I got Nick three years later with the factory 'zip-on' style.
I was happy with the snapper, but am much happier with the zipper (actually use it in cold weather, whereas I really avoided using the snapper when it was even cool out).
My vote is for the factory version -- especially when you consider the Bumper-to-Bumper coverage for 36K miles).

I put an extang on my crew, fits good,no leaks easy to take on and off.next to a hard cover looks pretty good

Extang here. Been on 6 months no problems. Bows and snaps are adjustable for cold weather which helps, but it is a hassle to snap in cold weather. This is my first soft top so the verdict is still out.

bow, I purchased the factory snapless tonneau from the dealer here in Lincoln. I like it. I looked at many covers, but the look I was going for was sporty and I don't think the others look as nice. However, I suspect that some of the others are made of a more durable material, (like the material they use to cover tractor-trailers carrying grain). Its a personal choice they and are priced accordingly.

I've had soft covers on my last two trucks with both serving fair to well. The first I purchased was a velcro closing system which required placing a glued hook strip to the truck. It was great til it pulled a lot of paint when removed three years later. The 2nd one I had (on my F150) was button on that was much sturdier, with great supports. Cold weather affects the flexibility of course but the main thing I had against this one was the rail mounts would vibrate back and forth and had to be shimmed to keep the cover itself from moving forward and causing a leak. I guess I am really saying, if you are going to buy a soft cover, get one with a good rail inspect it often for movement.

This is what I'm using for a soft tonneau cover, http://www.accesscover.com/Products/Access.asp
I have had mine for 3 years now and it is a good as new. They have also made some changes to the it to allow easier adjustment.

Extang Black-Max tonneau cover..... nothing but the best. Had ours installed for 22 months now, plus it's parked outside 24/7. The cover has never been treated or sealed just washed. www.partsforyourtruck.com sells them

This is my first post and want to share some of my experiences on my first add-on for my new truck. I bought the Downey SST Tonneau cover after looking at both the snapless Extang and the Downey. I liked the rugedness of the Downey better even though I've seen many posts on people liking the Extang snapless very well (found many posts liking the Downey SST as well). Bought mine from TPCarguy. Man, can't say enough on how much this guy was so cool. Free shipping and he was about $29 cheaper than any on-line merchant I could find. When I got it one of the frame parts was defective. TPCarguy is sending a whole new set so I can take the parts I need out and I just have to ship back what I don't need. He's paying for all this shipping back and forth. What a guy! He'll get my business again.
Frank and Beans, pic looks nice. I don't like the hard covers, can't afford a retrax roll top and I hate that humpback look of the rails pushing up the soft tops. What's a guy to do? (without, I guess)
I had a soft tonneau custom made by the auto upholstery shop here in Lincoln...$135 and lifetime warranty. Fits great, looks cool as can be. Let me know if you would like the exact information on which shop...
