Question Bug shield and covers

Hello everyone!
I am the proud owner of a new F-150 2000 XLT.
Can anyone recommend a good bug shield? Does it matter what it is made out of?

My other question is would I be better off getting a cover or a cap? Again any recommendations? Thanks.
I am not looking to trick out my truck, just trying to help protect it.

Alex

I've got the Lund Interceptor bug shield on mine. I got the clear and had it painted on the back to match the truck. I had a Lund on my 97 as well. They seem ok.

By cover I assume you mean bed cover. I have a soft tonneau, and it is ok. Keep in mind no soft tonneau will snap in the cold. Cold to me means below about 20F. It really depends on how much you use your truck to haul. I could never live with a cap or a hard tonneau, but that is me. I haul too much stuff and use the bed. The soft is a good compromise and is cost effective as well. At about $200 you get a water proof cover for the times you need one. Removeable in 30 seconds when you don't want it.

In regards to the bed cover, it's really up
to what the truck is going to be used for.

My friend has a 99 long bed with a raised
cap, because he needs to bring welding
machines, generators, and stuff like that
to his work.

I have a hard cover, I think it looks great,
and I normally don't have to transport around
anything really big, but if I did it's
removeable.

I'd look at the ARE products, they seem
to be the best choice.

Go with Lund they make excellent products. I have the Ford "Snapless Tonneau", live in the mountains of Colorado and have taken it off and put it when the temp has been 10 degrees or so, no problem with fit.

Cool

I had a lund bug sheild sent it back didn't like the way it looked.Checked out www.downsford.com and ordered a ford factory bra for the front looks better than any bug sheild I've seen.Only $93.00 compared to $127.00 at the icollection ford store. It also has the ford logo on it,I also have the ford snapless tonneau very easy coming off and going on and I kept it on all winter.
PS: I've got to update my profile with accessories for my truck.
