Post Lighted " Blue Oval" Purchase.

This post went out in the Lightning Forum. If any of you Ford loyalists want to participate, open the Lightning forum and add your name.............................................. ..............................

I am going to buy a "Lighted Ford Blue Oval" from Northcoast. These are the ones that they advertise on their site. Sizes are 3", 4", 4 3/4", 5 3/4 " and 7 " (Same as Grill size)
I also ordered a 2" Receiver Hitch cap, a trailer wire connect and plan to affix the light to it, and plug it into my trailer plug. This way, when the headlamps are on, so is the logo.( Or it can be wired through the brake lamp wire to only come on with the application of the brakes.) When you want to use the hitch, it is easily removable. (This has already been accomplished by another member)
I contacted the company and they will give us a quanity discount. They retail for 29-39 dollars each and come complete with the inverter. ( This is about the same amount that regular hitch caps which don't light, are sold for.)
If anyone wants to get one, let me know. The more we order, the less the price becomes. Only NY and PA need to add sales tax. Either reply on this topic or my e-mail, mterry@torrnet.com or ignore me . I thought everyone would like to save some money!!

Put me down for one. Sounds like a good deal and a good price. Of course who could pass up a lighted hitch cover that most people have never seen. It would be sure to provoke questions and turn heads. Hopefully we can get enough people to get the price down. Thanks.

Question

Thanks to Darin, I found more info here:
http://www.nthcoast.com/lightedlogo.html

For $39, that's not too bad... I may just go ahead and order it now (I'm an impatient SOB!)

Lighting the front grill would be really cool

I have lighted emblems front and rear. It may be a good idea to run them through a switch so that you can turn them off. In some states, its illeagal to have a 'blue light' on your vehical, i know, i've been pulled over twice, never given a ticket thought. But thats why I have a switch.

Ordered mine from Northcoast (The Home of the Lighted Ford Emblem) two weeks ago, came one week ago. Came home from work early to install, took 2 hours (on my 1985 Bronco) and looks sooo coool! I keep going on evening drives now.

Wink

Here is a hint, If you live in Pa, I would agree put it on a switch, If you get an officer that doesn't like Ford's, and yes they do exist, or some smart ***, it's against vehicle inspection regulations. and it may cost you up to $93.50. So be careful. But I thought of getting my own,. Any one with a full size night time picture?

For anyone in Wisconsin thinking of doing it - During the hours of darkness (1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset), only amber and white can be visible to the front and amber and red can be visisble to the rear. Any other color is guaranteed to get you stopped and ordered to turn off the light.

Attention, Tim Lloyd, 1..STRIKE, LSTORM, whitelightning and Goldie. If you still want the lighted Ford Ovals, I need to confirm your e-mail address, size and number requested.
Please e-mail me if you are still interested. Prices will be about 25% off the sales price that Northcoast Performance sells them for.
Thanks, Mike, mterry@torrnet.com

About these lighted Ford emblems... I purchased the one that goes in your front grille. How the heck do you get behind there to take the other one out and install it? I took that plastic cover off, but still cannot reach those bolts that hold it on. Anyone that has installed one in the front have some tips?
