Nerf Bars
Does anyone know of a brand of nerf bars that I can purchase for my extended cab f150 2000 model; that mount to the frame instead of the body. I dont want the type that use the hanger idea, via the body bolts, instead I want to drill four holes for each end of the bar.

Nitrox,
I'm not sure if this helps, but the F150's come with holes for the factory nerf bars. I think I've heard others here state that there are other step makers that use these holes as well. There are a total of 16 holes on each side of the truck. This allows each mount point to use 4 bolts, which makes for some pretty sturdy steps.

Any particular reason why you don't want them to mount to the rocker panels? It is a very solid area to mount them, and nice if you have a body lift. I'm not sure how the Westin's mount, but they are probably the best nerf bar around, especially the chrome ones.

Yeah, the Westins are the best out there. Have saved me in certain situations also. And I can tell ya, as can anyone else with them, that they are stronger than hell.
They hold up really well:

i have the chrome Westins and love them...they don't frame mount, but a buddy and myself, together around 500 lbs., have stood and bounced my truck on mine without any give whatsoever...at first, i wanted the frame mount only, but heard about the Westins and thought i'd try them..so far, so good...good luck, Rich
So the Westins mount to existing holes in the body? So even if you have a bodylift, they mount up snug to the bottom of the truck right? Im contemplating doing nerfs for ease of access..but they take away from the look of height IMO.

Hey DirtSlinger, I have the westin chrome nerfs. The mount to the body with some holes in the rocker panels that already are there. You pull out a couple of the rubber covers and they have mounting brackets that go inside the holes. I wanted body mounted nerfs because they will move up when i add the body lift. I've seen too many trucks around here with a body lift and too much gap between the frame mounted nerfs. Looks like crap.....

Thanks for all your replies; the reason I want the frame mount instead of the body mount is because a couple of friends of mine, where out doing some 4wheeling, and Eric dropped his front two wheels into a pretty deep crack/ditch in the ground.
Anyways, he had the body mount type 'westin's' to be exact. As a result, the nerfs bent as well as the bottom of the doors, and the metal below the doors, he had a serious repair bill.
I had and old jeep long ago, that I installed some nerf bars on that mounted directly to the frame. And I had been stradled(sp) and hit my bars pretty hard, and I didn't suffer any body damage.
So, I've found a company 'Sterling Equipment & Manufacturing Co., Inc.' out of Florida that made me some nerfs.
My new nerfs, bolt/weld directly to the frame. You can either bolt or weld them. I had mine welded.
Plus, for the price of 'Westin's' I came out $20.00 cheaper even with shipping. If anyone's interested here's the url: [ http://www.sterling-equipment.com/ ], they've been doing this kind of work since 1975.
I'm real pleased with the quality, and strength/durability of their product, so far. I'm not trying to sell their product, I'm just wanting to pass this info on, in-case anyone else had my similiar interests.
Again, thanks for all you input.
