Hey Guys - just need some opinions here....I scored a FREE Manik Grille Guard (a guy at works shop pulled one off a lowered Expy) it needs new rubber ($30) and a paint job.....since I was having to get it painted anyway I was thinking about getting it painted the same color as the fenders/trim (2 tone truck) which is a tan on a dark green truck (http://dopealicious.tripod.com/page_3.htm) instead of getting it redone the original black.....I think it will make it look more "Custom" but can't decide if it's gonna look goofy or not?

I also got the rear light guards but they seem like they hang out a littl too much....should they fit my truck if they came off and Expedition?

Your thoughts?

Anyone have an Expy with a chrome grill gaurd. A co-worker of mine has a '99 Expy with the chrome grill and was interested in a chrome gaurd. Any pics would be great.

MAK 3,

Sounds like you got a hell of a deal. In my opinion, I think you should leave it black. I saw a Expidition in Oklahoma a few weeks ago with a Manik grill guard that was painted red to match the truck. It really didn't look very good, kinda hokie I think. But you make the call, it's your truck. But I kinda figure since you have a 4x4 to just keep it black. But good luck in your decision.

Oh yeah, about the guards, not sure on the fit. If it is the same year as your truck than they might fit, but play it safe. Might wanna call around on that.

Thumbs up

thanks Mudder,

driving home for lunch today I kinda decided that I would just get it painted black again and it'll look like new.

On the tailight guards...top to bottom they seem to be the right size but when you hold the part that mounts to the truck up against it it seems like they (the guards) stick out kinda far from the truck, like 3/4" to 1" the little rubber guard doesnt touch the truck....is there supposed to be that much clearance or should they be more flush?

It looks like a tight fit where I would have to drill holes too, the top hole would be right under the bolt holding the cabel for the tailgate, it almost seems like it would have to sit right underneath it (touching)???

Thanks....when I get them painted they'll be black!

Cool

I got a Grizzly. Stay away from them. I got mine for free, so I can't complian about the price, but I can complain about it being flimsy, and cheap chrome. My next bar is a Manik Stainless Steel bar. A shop I do some work for will get it for me for cost.

This is a Westin, mounts in existing holes. You can't mount fog lights like some of the others, but it's heavy duty.
