Post 40/60 seat

I just ordered a 2000 F-150 XL with the 40/60 cloth split bench seat. My dealer says the seat will have a middle fold down console. Is he correct?

Your dealer is correct. When the middle seatback is folded down, it is a console, Big Gulp cupholder, and armrest. I personally like it even better than the Captain's Chairs.

Glad you didn't order that XL with the vinyl bench seat.

My XLT also has the cloth seats 40/60 combo and they are very nice..in my opinion..better than the Captain's chairs. The center arm rest/console is very nice. You can easily seat a person in this position with the console in the upright position. There is a seat belt also.

I ordered the dark graphite interior..new for 2000.

The only drawback to the 40/60 that I've found is if you do have three passengers up front, the driver and right passenger can tilt their seats back but, the guy in the center is bolt upright.

I'm not complaining! If I started complaining I'd have to listen to "you should have bought a SuperCab".

Of course if I had bought a SuperCab then I could legitimately complain about the "sixth man has to sit bolt upright!".

Talking

Remember now, I'm ordering an XL, not an XLT or Lariot. All the replies say the 40/60 split bench comes with the pull down console. Thats great. Thank you all for the good news.

I have the supercab with th 60/40 and have the center console. One problem is when passengers are in the back, the center console intrudes into their leg space.... no one can sit in the center unless the seats are pulled way forward or the console is raised.

Unhappy

Just don't flip that center console backup without making sure it is clipped shut. I found out the hard way after picking up tapes, coins, pens, papers etc from the backseat floor.

Thumbs up

chuckp172, you made the right choice! The bench seat in the XL sucked! I knew a guy that worked at a truck conversion shop. Got me 60/40 seats for $150. Great investment.

Cool

My 98 F150 S/C had the 40/60 and I liked them alot more than my Captain's chairs. I only went with the Captain's chairs in my 99 because of the CD stacker being up front and in the middle.

The only drawback to the 40/60 seats was when you flipped the console down there became a hole that items on the seat would fall through to the back.
