Anybody have a Lund Frontrunner on their F-150? I have seen pictures of one installed on an F-150, but have not seen one in person.
Is it as nice looking as the pictures?

I had a Front Runner deflector for my 1997 F150 back when the Front Runner was introduced with the model. They sent tape with which to install it and assured me they had tunnel-tested it to suitable speeds and that it would remain attached to the hood nicely.

Wrong.

Came off three times (attached the last two times at an excelent body shop called Henley's in Bryan, TX) and Lund then told me over the phone they had tested it in 55 mph wnid speeds...not something which simulates 75 mph into a substantial headwind.

To Lund's credit, they sent me a free Interceptor model, which remains on the beautiful (Portofino Blue Metallic) truck to this day. Shame thuogh, tht Front Runner I had painted to match sure looked SLICK!

Long story short, make sure you get the screw-attached model and a good paint job for best results. It's a real looker, done right!

I have had the Frontrunner on my '99 F150 for about 8 months now and haven't had any problems with it coming off. The only problem that I've had with it is where it wraps around the front fenders...it didn't have quite enough clearance and wore through the clearcoat slightly before I noticed it. I used a Dremmel to sand down the rear edge and haven't had any problems since. I had it painted to match my truck (Deep Wedgewood Blue) and it still looks like new...it does look pretty good...almost looks stock.

I like the look of the FrontRunner, but does it touch the hood or fenders. I don't want anything to touch the surface of the truck (including little vibration pads or spacers). Under the hood I don't care.

For the shields that come with tape mounting, can you mount them with screws by drilling holes into the guard?? Just curious, it seems like the tape mounted guards are less secure. Would it work??

I pretty much have the same concern you do reference the tape mounting. I went ahead and ordered a FrontRunner anyway.

I hope it works out good, as I am paying $100 for it,(with it painted to match my F-150).

The FrontRunner attaches to the top of the hood, not the underside, with 3M double-sided automotive tape...I didn't realize this until after I had ordered it and had it painted. If I would've known this, I probably would've gone with a different model. It is very secure though...I think as long as you install it on a warm day on a clean hood, it should work ok...there is quite a bit of tape to hold it on.

I haven't been able to find the picture of my truck with the FrontRunner on my PC at home, but I think I have it at work...I'll try to find it there and send it to you guys.

I can't say for sure that it's the same kind of tape that is used for the bodyside mouldings, but yes, it does mount to the top of the hood. It's the 3M double-sided automotive tape that you can buy at most auto parts stores...it's the same tape that they use to attach taillight covers, etc.
