Post Removal of tailgate logo

I just ordered a lighted ford logo and want to put it on the tailgate. I took the latch cover off the tailgate and there is no way to reach the logo from that point. I barely squoze ( no a word I know) my arm through the side of the interior to feel the plastic nubs inside the tailgate from the logo. The problem is the sticky tape used to install the orignal. how do i release that without scratching the paint? Once it is off there is no need to get inside the tailgate. Please help i have already tried a blow dryer and no help. Thanks in advance.

Cool

Hey Ed,

Get ya some fishing line. Saw away at it, staying away from the paint. Then clean the remaining off.

Good Luck!

Fishing line! Great idea.... Never thought of that....

Or you could pry it off with a rusty screwdriver. Whichever.....

Cool

Dental floss works really well too. But you might want to use a hair dryer on for a couple of minutes first to help heat the adheasive up and make it easier to remove.

Did mine today, took about 30 minutes for hte whole install.....Used string to saw the tape off, you have to pull it off some to. It has two little nipples that go into the tail gate...Cleaning off the double sided tape took the most time...But the final outcome is great......looks great....See you guys tomorrow...

I would be interested to hear how you get the power to the lighted logo.

Great idea!

Here is how I did it. First I pulled all the wires through the tail gate and tail light areas. Once I installed the logo and finished with the tailgate part of the install, I tapped into the lower tail light light.(brown wire) comes on only when light are on..Looks great, email me if you have any questions.....
