Exclamation Lund BuG ShieLD

Just curious anyone have any problems with their Lund Bug shield (Intercepter)

The paint on my front facia is worn off in several places, where the shield wraps around under the hood. (with the hood closed the area just above the grill)

I did happen to notice that at the radius where it is rolled over that the plastic is extended out a little near each edge. Those match the areas where my paint is damaged.

You may want to check yours, before your paint is damaged.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his 98 and the Ford Factory shield. Seems the rubber grommet "was liberated" from the unit and the paint is gone!

Thanks for the info. I checked mine and it is okay. The thing that I like about this bug deflector is that it does not touch the hood. I never thought about trouble caused by the deflector hitting the front edge of the hood.

Y2kXLTSport,
The type that use the rubgber gromments are terrible. You have to attach those grommets to your paint!! Then when they come off they remove your paint and the deflector rubs your hood and scratches it all up. My brother had an Explorer and this happened and there were scratches all over the hood.

This is the Interceptor....stays about an inch away from hood.

ThanX Blue for the picture.

If you look at the pic, where the mounting bolt is, itZ the second radius. Where it interfaces with the chrome facia insert (on mine and newer F-150's itZ color keyed to the body color - ItZ the ThanG that wraps arond the headlights)Thats the radius that protrudes out and has worn the paint of of the facia. When the hood is close there should be a gap between that radius and the front facia.

I see where your problem is but fortunately mine has a nice gap there and is fine.

Have you figured out a solution yet? You may want to call Lund and complain to them about it. It couldn't hurt!
