The email you got from Ford sounds like their typical customer service BS.
Don't they think we know they are yessing us?

Cool

It was probably pick and choose at the factory. I have seen 97 and up trucks with and without the cargo lite. I personally have a 98 XL with a cargo lamp. I have thought about putting a switch in the bed somewhere to turn it on as well.

I wonder if this isn't like the floor mat fiasco. Just because it is listed as standard equipment doesn't mean it is so.

According to the sales brochures, my 2000 XLT ext cab should have come standard with floor mats.

When I bought my truck, I pointed out that it should have them, per the brochure. According to my dealer Ford stopped putting in floor mats on XLTs. They were able to show me something that proved it came down from Ford, but I have seen it mentioned on this site as well.

I'll bet there is fine print on any sales material you see that says 'specifications subject to change without notice'. This is what my dealer fell back on. Once he proved it came from Ford there was little I could do.

However, my wife was so PO'd she was ready to walk out, and informed the sales weenie of that. I figure that was worth at least some bargaining power, cause the guy took my next offer, which was $100 less than it would have been with floor mats.

Question

Hey, Roadrunner, what harness did you plug into? I have a 98 XL without the cargo lights and I wanted to add them to my truck, But when I pulled the red brake lens cap off it had only one light socket in it. How did you hook yours up??? I'm willing to buy the cargo/brake light setup, but just don't know how to hook it up. Any help!!! Foots, Thanks
