F-150 Center Console
Has anyone tried to modify the center console (with the Captain's Charirs) to fit the one from the Expedition in place of the stock F-150 one? I like the benefit of more storage spaces from the Expedition one and it seems like a waste of space to have a big dead blank area on the floor between the center console and the dash when I have Captain's chairs and nobody will be sitting there.
HI!... SCMC75 : I have looked into this idea as well about a year ago. My dealer here in CANADA wants over $650(CAN) for the EXPEDITON'S center councel. The funny thing is, is that they will not sell you a complete councel. You have to buy it piece by piece and put it together your self. I also tryed a salvage yard and they wanted $450(CAN) for one. A friend of mine that works at my local FORD dealer told me that the EXPEDITION's center councel should bolt right into our trucks. At the worst we might have to drill one or two holes to secure it to the floor for the front of the councel. I like that that center councel separates the driver/passenger compartments and makes it feel more like a ****pit enviroment. I still plan on installing one later next year. Hopefully by then there will be more Expeditions in the salvage yards and the price will be a lot cheaper. GOOD LUCK!

hey SCMC75, I did such a modification only about 3 months ago. It fits great but it takes just a bit of modifying the bolt plate of the expedition console. But when all is said and done it looks great and i feel as if i am in an expedition! Now all i need is the overhead console! Anywho, the whole job took me only @ an hour or so. it helps having a bandsaw handy or a dremmel tool because you will have to cut some metal but not much at all. the front brackets are no problem but the brackets at the back ( closest to the rear seat ) knock the stock f150 bolts that stick up. all you have to do is cut the metal where it hits - thats it ! the rest is cake.
Hope this helps! One more thing, before you buy the console at a dealer and pay W A Y too much, try going to a junkyard or do like me....i went to a car stereo store where they did ALOT of SUV's and told them my plans. luckily they had one in their store and sold it to me for $100! good luck

Neal - i jjust read your post - the truck does not hav to be modified in ANY way whatsoever , only the plates ( that are a part of the expedition console)
have to be modified. What happens is that the front plate is bolted down using the stock bolts - no problem
Then the console - with the modified piece screwed in place ( in the back) just slipps over the front brackets which 'locks' it in place....then just bolt the back bracket down in place ( using the stock bolts)

I am curious if the overhead console from the 2000 F-150 will be an easy modification.

There are no vents in the epedition console.97 or were you talking about the vents in the overhead console? i have not gotten my hands on that yet......shant be long. believe me , if you can go to a nearby ford dealership and get inside an expedition --- THATS how it feels!!! its great. when i installed mine i

No, the floor vents need no modifications at all.

CUL8r, you didn't happen to have a six disc changer in the console did you? I assume the expedition console is designed to hold one but I'm just wondering...

I have the captains chairs and found a styrofoam cooler at a yard sale that fits in front of the original console. The price was $1.00. I found the same carpet that I have at auto zone and used a spray on glue to secure the carpet to the cooler. The cooler was tapered on the bottom so it clears the floor vents with no problems.
Now I can keep my Pepsi Cola (diet) cool as I go on trips and it also helps separate the driver and passenger areas.
